What’s a good wood to use for a marquee 5ft letters?
@MakerDecor3 жыл бұрын
Hi, thanks for watching. For making marquee letters there are two woods used most often. Plywood or MDF, I have been using MDF most of the time due to cost. With recent events plywood pricing went crazy high, more than double the original cost. So, I used MDF which is good, smooth finish and takes paint well after primer. But can be heavier and absorbs moister more than plywood. I have recently went back to plywood as the pricing has gone done some. Plywood is lighter and creates a more rigid structure. I am planning a video soon to talk about in more detail about marquee builds and the different techniques. Thank you for your question.

Hey man love your videos and plans , my wife has made me to multiple of your decorations and your plans are very simple and easy to understand I just have a simple question do you prefer doing these circle platforms in 3/4 plywood or 1/2 ?
@MakerDecor10 ай бұрын
Hi, thank you so much for the support! I do try to stick to 1/2 inch for most of the things I build or thinner. Just because when I start using 3/4 inch, the weight does start to add up. I remember when I first started I built backdrops out of 3/4 inch and man I learned quick because I had to setup. lol So if I can get away with 1/2 inch I would stick to it. But there may be situations where 3/4 is required, I think for these pedestals 1/2 inch gets the job done. Hope that helps!
@vacevedo1562510 ай бұрын
Yes it does that’s exactly what we were thinking , weight is going to become a factor after all the things she’s having me to from your plans lol but appreciate the respond keep doing what you do 👍

@@juanitamartinez531 Hi thanks for watching. The polywall can be bought at Home Depot or Lowes. It is at most hardware stores. The cheapest and thinnest one is at Home Depot and that is the one I used. It is easy to wrap. Just tack one side and wrap it around the plinth enough to cover it and screw it closed. You can also get it at Lowes for a little more money and it is a little thicker but can work. If you have any other questions please let me know, thank you.

Hi thanks for watching. I do have the plans available on the etsy store with more information. To wrap the plinth I used a plastic you can find at Home Depot in the plywood section. Hi, do you know the name of the polywall in Spanish? I am making my own cilinders and dont know how I can find the material here in El Salvador.
@MakerDecor Жыл бұрын
Hi, I do not know the name but here is some of the description of it. The 1/16 in. x 4 ft. x 8 ft. Plastic-Panel. This Panel is resistant to rot for durability. This Panel is great for commercial bathroom applications. Plastic material, White color, Resists rot and moisture. These plastics are mainly used in commercial restrooms or laundry rooms where there will be increased amount of moisture or chances of splashing on the walls. These plastics are glued to the wall to protect from any water source, mostly commercial applications. I would go to your local hardware store and search for thin plastic wall protector for moisture or water. They are usually thin as they are meant to be glued on, not nailed. That makes them very easy to bend and usually very cheap compared to other alternatives. Good luck
