I just made one. Huge tip cut the legs so there's an 8 degree angle from the bottom and the stand will support itself upright better without sandbags

What kind of wood is best for these kind of backdrops? I’ve seen some that people diy (not yours) that you can see the wood texture through the paint.

Yes in my plans I mention to use sanded plywood, or birch plywood as those have the smooth sides with minimal knots visible. The plywood that shows the wood texture is called construction plywood. It is not meant for cabinets or anything nice looking, just construction and has the wood texture and large knots very visible. And even with paint and primer, the wood knots eventually show through. People save $20 on construction plywood but then pay more money and time in primer and painting. So stay away from construction plywood for decorative products. They are both sold at most local hardware stores such as Home Depot and Lowes. Good luck!

man awesome job! you should experiment with piano hinges, you might be able to hide them behind the shelf, still looks great , awesome ! Question .how do you deal with moisture content and warping when having to store your large products in an uncrontrolled climate. thats my struggle right now, i built barn doors when they were trendy and made about 10k cash in a summer, but i had one or two that gave me issues because i was storing them in my garage. you ever run into an issue like that with these big projects? nice work by the way, I really like your style, creativity and your teaching methods. Im a carpenter by trade but have no original creative bones in my body so thats what im working on. CHEERS!!

Hi, thanks for taking the time to comment! I never even thought about piano hinges to hide. I will have to look into that for sure. And for warping, yeah it happens with some of my stuff as well. Trying to make sure I store it flat or with support to minimize the chance for warping. But I swear I feel like sometimes if a board is going to warp isn't nothing going stop it lol. But of all my decor pieces, maybe only twice its happened. I just redesigned them with more support. But yup, it happens. Good luck to you!

Use a smooth roller made to give a smooth finish. If you cheap out on the rollers or brushes, it shows. Also 2 to 3 coats to get a clean look.

If you keep the measurements the same as the plans and the one shown here it is one sheet. 6ft x 3ft wide. But if you make it bigger may require a second smaller sheet? Depends

Yes I use tent sand bags from Amazon. It will stand by itself but always use something to make sure nobody bumps it or wind, etc. So sand bags work great

Hi, thanks for watching our videos. You may catch up to the part where my wife and sis stopped doing rentals and I just kept building stuff for this channel. As I would get so many requests and decided to share what I have learned. So we do not do it anymore but when we did we had a quote that we would send for them to book us. And in that quote we had what we felt should be stated to protect us and them and they would know what to expect. So if they payed the quote they would have to have read it. Now I don't know if that would have held up in court or anything. But I felt it was better than anything and have something we both could agree on. If I were to do it now, I would probably lean to have them sign a contract before payment. There is somebody on KZbin who discusses her contract and I believe sells one similar. Her channel is called yes! event decor and more. She seems really nice and has some good info. I am not a lawyer and always do what is best for you to be safe. Good luck!
