In yet another DIY canoe sail project, we made a fairly successful rig and had some amazing gusts of wind to go with it! It was fun and hilarious. One day we'll perfect the design.

At 13:40 when they thought that the mast had failed, they did not realize that the high mechanical advantage of the lever they had in securing the mast as they did, well all I can say is that canoe is a very strong canoe at that sharp end for if the mast was stronger it would have been the canoe that would have been damaged. They reminded me of what Galileo Galilei once said, " give me a lever strong enough and I shall lift the earth!" These nice guys were not far off from spitting open the bow of that canoe. I love their adventurous spirit and their sense of humor and their innovations. .

this is awesome man! currently working on a sail setup on my canoe. is that just a rectangle rain fly tarp folded taco style?
@merzoutdoors3 жыл бұрын
Thanks man! Yeah actually it's a square 10' x 10' tarp folded on the diagonal.

@@merzoutdoors I’ll have to order one up! My rectangular tarp doesn’t line up so we’ll. Looks like you have more attachments for lashing things to it as well!

Do you have rudder or leeboard?

On this particular setup we just used our paddles as the rudder and leeboard.
