Canada Pros - Nature is far better than in the UK - More variety in outdoor activities - Proximity to the US, Mexico and Caribbean - More ethnically diverse imo - Less racist and more progressive than the UK (personal opinion) - Sense of space, you feel really crammed in Europe - Canada isn't as good as it was 10 years ago, I still feel the future in Canada looks more promising than the UK UK Pros - Proximity to Europe - More mild climate less extreme cold and heat - Culture (Museums, Theatre etc.) - More walkable and less car centric - Much better pubs - Banter culture (Canadians are very politically correct ime, a lot of the stuff Brits say banter wise wouldn't fly in Canada)

I've visited the UK multiple times, and honestly, when comparing Canada to the UK, I’d choose Canada. Despite challenges like economic slowdowns, inflation, carbon taxes, etc. Canada stands out as an excellent country for working with international businesses. Its strong economic ties to the European Union, the United States, and Commonwealth member states (facilitated by agreements like CETA and USMCA) make it a hub for global trade and collaboration. Canada also offers streamlined visa systems that enable workers with EU or Canadian passports to move easily, creating opportunities for flexible mobility, which is invaluable for international professionals. In contrast, the UK faces significant economic challenges, including stark disparities in productivity between London and other regions. Post-Brexit, the UK has experienced economic decline and has become more insular, having left the world's largest free market for jobs and trade 🇪🇺 However, the UK does show promise in the AI industry, where it benefits from fewer restrictive regulations compared to the European Union. As an EU citizen, if I were to move to another European country, the UK would not be my preference. The declining economy and restrictive visa policies for EU citizens-aside from limited bilateral agreements, such as with France-make it less appealing. As an Italian who chose to move to Canada, I recognize there may not be significant economic advantages compared to the most productive EU countries. However, Canada offers a unique melting pot culture, a dynamic international job market, and a deep respect and inclusivity for neurodivergent individuals like me. As a British person who migrated to Canada in 2020, this is fascinating. Thank you! You both should be journalists!! Better than a lot of awful stuff you see on the mainstream news channels. Actually informative, educational, and actually impartial. You closed out with the best question...where is HOME? Everyone has different experiences and identities that answer this question. I think it is really important to consider the idea of developed and developing. These are highly capitalist terms created by western society. Can UK and Canada really call themselves developed when we have an individualistic society with limitless greed, homelessness, addictions, and real tangible poverty in ways we thought we had seen the end of?? I will be moving to Canada from the UK in Jan or Feb, but the decision was not economic; mostly adventure, a sense of urgency (i'm 33 so it will get difficult soon), and the desire to have a 2nd passport in case the UK goes to s***. Canada was a natural option as not only was it easy to get permanent residence without ever having set foot there, but the advantages (many of which you listed here) of Canada suit me better than the advantages of the UK. I love big houses and the average houes size in the UK is 76 square metres vs 181 in Canada 😮. I have already been to Europe enough and don't care much for travelling there anymore and the shorter holidays don't bother me as much as I have a job where it's easy to work remotely, so can work while travelling. P.S. Legal cannabis is a nice bonus... 😜

Great video, this makes total sense to me. I often feel like a lonely voice explaining that we have it pretty good compared to our peers. I'd love to see Germany, France, and Italy. Heck, do a G7 playlist. I think many of our fellow Canadians might be surprised to learn that we aren't a failed state, as I see SO many videos talking about how terrible it is to live in Canada. If you move to a huge world class city like Toronto or Vancouver, which also rank top 5 in the world in many liveability indexes, is it surprising that these are also some of the most expensive cities on Earth? Houses in UK is less than half the size of Canada, if you calculate per square meter/feet Canada is much cheaper. Canada has livable modern house UK doesn't. And Medical Service is Canada is far better you can go to a walk-in clinic and see a doctor but here in UK you can't. You need to wait for 10-15 days just to get an appointment, by that time you will be dead but in Canada a doctor can see you and find your issue, you can then go to US if needs immediate treatment or wait for your health system in UK you will be dead by the time you find what is wrong with you. Doctors doesn't share information with you so you have no idea why you are having medicine. NO treatment for regular fever or cold or a normal disease. Your simple fever or cold can turn into a severe infection case if you wait for UK's GP or hospital. GP do not recommend you to any specialist in 6-8 months. You only get emergency treatment in hospital. GP's doctors are recently meds graduate teenagers mostly without any real life experience, You being a regular Canadian getting polite on UK. Medical system in remote African or Amazon Jungle is far better than UK.

I slightly differ on your opinion about the paid vacation time off in Canada. I think everyone easily gets on an avergae of 112.5 hours (7.5 hours per day) of paid vacation in Canada that is around 15 days exclusive of Stat Holidays and weekends. I work in BC and this is my entitled vacation time off. This is irrespective of seniority. Btw, good analysis

Cold is interesting; I have relatives in the UK, and they agree they are warmer our cold winter than their mild, humid/wet warmer winter. I will take a snowy -7C over a rainy +2C any day (we get that in October and March for a couple of weeks). We know how to dress for cold and deal with snow. I would give another point to Canada for being colder when it counts. The only way to travel in England is to think of pounds as dollars - $20CDN spaghetti??

Just a point about the UK's Healthcare system that you've got sort of incorrect. I am a Canadian who moved to Wales 18 years ago. The NHS is not one system across the entire UK. It is completely separate in all four countries in the United Kingdom, and is somewhat similar to the way the provinces administer healthcare. The UK government gives money to all the regions' NHS systems, but most citizens outside of England feel that there is often a disparity between the amount given to and the favouritism that England seems to receives over the rest of the country.

I stay in the Netherlands and prefer to travel and discover other countries. I have to say despite the current status 'of the world' and all its troubles, I wil not exchange my country for another. Canada is on my list for next year, travelling to Vancouver (BC ), a must have on my bucketlist, Alberta as well. Hell, the whole of Canada is on my list but it is simply to big, to expensive to do it all. About rising prices, we Dutch have the same housing crisis as well....the most simple houses in the cities are 'out of reach' for many ex-students/beginning workforce people. It is sad, and nobody is expecting that this will be solved soon, we have not much space in and around our cities, in Dutch we say: 'vol = vol! '. By the way, UK is only 50 minutes fly from Amsterdam, so to discover all the beauty and rich history of the UK it is very easy for us.

Australia definitely has the better weather and beaches but it is more remote and you need to take a plane to get out of the country. Canada has better nature (arguably) because it has the rockies and more varied places to visit/explore such as Quebec, where it is mostly French speaking and has a different culture+vibe. You also can always drive or fly down to the USA next door and it's pretty cool to have the most powerful country as our neighbour. Both countries are quite similar otherwise and have the same issue with unaffordable housing and inflation. Overall as a Canadian, I'm biased perhaps but I wouldn't find Australia better than Canada enough to want to immigrate there.

I am Canadian (Lived In Vancouver and Calgary for years) and am just about to enter the UK and will be visiting London for a while as well as other cities in Europe. I have 88 days to see things. It will be interesting to compare things. The carbon tax (mentioned in some posts under me) will be gone in October as will the Liberal Party of Canada (same as labour in UK) in a massive conservative turn-about. Some polls in Canada have the Liberal Party losing party status in the country, that's how few people will be voting for them. As a result, in October an economic boom will begin in Canada, and after October 2025 things will definitely start to trend upwards for the country economically. That being said, Canada is having some of the same issues with immigration and islamists disturbing the peace and refusing to adapt to western values. That will also be taking a turn for the better in Canada as the incoming Conservative Prime Minister, Pierre Poilievre (pronounced Poly-Ev) will not have the same tolerance to such things (although we will have to wait and see what they do; face masks will soon be banned at protests; supporting Hamas illegal etc.) Also if you're planning on moving to Canada, you may wish to research the weather. It may not be your bag, so to speak. Can't wait to see London and investigate a little for myself. I'm off the QM2 in about 5 hours and am very excited to spend Christmas/New Years in London/Amsterdam. Peace and love to all. P.S. Canada will also be passing self defence laws that allow Canadians the right to defend themselves in public soon. Something we don't have but that Canadians (especially after the rise in crime over the last decade) desperately want.

Great video! Maybe it's a provocative statement but comparing Canada to just the US is.. well shortsighted in my opinion. I would compare the economic aspects of life in the US with Switzerland (incl. Liechtenstein to keep the keyboard warriors happy) - both have much higher gross incomes than the rest of the world (okay maybe Luxembourg and Singapore could "compete") due to much laxer employment security (at will in the US vs. termination for any reasons while respecting the mandatory notice period), longer working hours (42h is the official norm in CH), and much much less role for the government in healthcare and childcare. In return it's logical that people will expect significantly higher compensation for the higher risk. Canada's socioeconomic model, on the other hand, is more closely aligned with the rest of the OECD countries allowing for a more rational and direct comparison :). (P.S. USD and CHF are the only 2 major currencies that have appreciated by 30% which also affects the purchasing power in GBP, EUR or CAD in numerous ways. I still remember the days when USD-CAD was 1:1)

Absolutely NO. I spent 13 years in Canada and I’m now I back in the UK thank god. Quality of life is so much better here, everything is better here. To anyone thinking of moving to Canada, seriously, don’t.. Go anywhere but Canada. I absolutely do not agree that groceries cost more in the UK, it’s so, so much cheaper to buy food here. Also, don’t forget that many thousands of Canadians live in poor, slum inner city apartments.

You should take into consideration the quality of cuisines. I traveled in the UK in 2012 and I struggled to find good cuisine in the several restaurants that I have been to. It was expensive and disappointing. There are several festivals in Montreal and other cultural activities, maybe not as much as in London though.

Plus you can easily go to other European cities to experience more culture within hours. I’m not quite sure your calculations are reliable. The median isn’t the point at which half the houses cost more and half cost less. A $10m house on one side of the equation would balance 20 x $500k houses on the other.

We need to embrace proper capitalism like the US , LOWER TAXES, encourage market competition, promote investment in the country, encourage research , attract investors based on lower taxes, remove useless regulations, don't force people to buy electric cars or spend money unnecessary on green technology which should be invested in boosting small scale businesses in Canada. Wait, are you really think that the median households income in the UK is $60,382? The median household disposable income for 2023 in the UK after tax is $43,500 USD (it is for all members in the house)... The median salary in the UK after tax is only $27,000... The median household disposable income in Canada for 2023 is approximately $68,400 and the median salary is $42,800, compare to household disposable income $43,500 in the UK , it is actually much more higher than you think. Trust me UK is not the best choice for live today... 😀
