All caught up! Watched every single vlog from the beginning. So enjoyable and informative to watch you grow as a makeup artist. So helpful for newbies and aspiring MUAs to get a peek behind the scenes. But also for everyone to appreciate the craft much more and see how much work actually goes into it beyond the 30-40 minutes a client is in the chair. These are great. Wishing you the best in the future exciting things you have coming. SO excited to see more; i'll keep cheering you on!

I am allllll about keeping the original packaging except for eyeshadows! I depot all my shadows and keep everything else in its original packaging. I tap into a more luxury market and the brides I get love the higher end stuff, so when they see the brands I carry, they love it. Specially when I whip out my super special Gucci bronzer 😂 In my opinion, I think the original packaging makes my kit look better and my clients feel better knowing exactly what I’m using on them!

I’m glad to hear this has worked out for other artists as well! I know my brides love seeing what products I have as well especially when it’s something they use personally :)

Remember to use your esthetician lisence to get all the brands pro discounts! I don’t practice as an esthetician anymore but just keep my lisence basically for the pro discounts for my makeup work! Also yes that’s exactly what I do for my brow pencils I put the box color on the top which looks a little funny but helps so much with seeing the color!
@julieruby9 ай бұрын
Thanks!! I already do have the credentials to apply for them without a license thankfully! I’ve had some for over 4 years now and they’ve saved SO much money :) The color coding on the brow pencils is definitely the way to go!

Love the Hourglass loose powder! Because it has a glowy finish I mix it with my Huda Beauty baking powders all the time and use it to set under the eyes so it doesn’t look as dry looking.

Original packaging is trending in the artist community right now. I depot for efficiency, I’m planning to continue to do that. I attempted to keep my Chanel powders in original packaging, but it slows me down, makes a mess, and also opens up the product to contamination. In my experience my higher end clients could care less about the packaging of my items. I’m located in Nor Cal so could be a client base situation. Love the LM blur powers! Hourglass is more matte.

It’s great to see artists really stepping into their individuality and finding out what works best for them :) I do love to depot as it is such a space and time saver so I get where you are coming from! I do think it’s very area specific though in terms of what clients expect from us so I’m glad you found something that suits you well :)

Also, for me, the clients are paying for my artistry and not my products. I feel like alot of muas have high end products and do not even know how to match foundations lol! But I can see your pov on this too! It rly depends on clientel I believe

I also feel the same as you, I like depotting foundation as they are so heavy and lipsticks because I agree with having them all over the place, but everything else I do like in the original packaging because I do feel like brides like to see what your using ❤xx

hey girl ! i want to start taking classes & become a makeup artists & get hands on training by this school near me in nyc that does individual courses. They also offer full cosmetology / esthetic classes where i can get my license. If i ONLY want to do makeup would it be better to go to school for esthetics or cosmetology? please let me know !! im not interested in doing hair or nails or even really skin care for that matter. i always thought esthetics schooling is like 90% skin care and not really makeup so i don’t want to make the wrong choice. which one would be good if i JUST want to do makeup ??
@julieruby8 ай бұрын
Hi! This is honestly a choice you will personally have to make yourself, but it seems like you already have the answer for yourself :) I don’t believe you need to have a license in NY to be a makeup artist so if you don’t have any interest in hair or skin just do makeup classes.
@lifeofamanda10318 ай бұрын
@@julieruby thank you for your response 🫶🏻 i actually just took a tour of a makeup school in nyc that focuses solely on makeup. i’m going to register for their master class in the fall so i can get some hands on experience working on other people! there’s a little bit of hairstyling that comes with my class which i’m not too crazy about but the majority of the class hours are solely learning makeup. this school is literally the only one in my city that i feel like is best for me so i’m going to go for it! I won’t be getting a license since it’s not cosmetology school but i’ll be getting a certificate so i’ll have some credentials when i graduate. my class also comes with 3 professional photoshoots & 20 photos i can use for my portfolio/social media so i’ll have some content to post once i graduate. im so excited to get into this field ☺️ im set on becoming a bridal makeup artist but my classes also include full glam, tv/film, & fashion/editorial makeup, as well as bridal makeup classes so if i change my mind i’ll have some other options for different fields i could potentially work in. the school also has an alumni portal & they help you find jobs after you graduate & a lot of the graduates get jobs in NYFW & Milan fashion week which is so cool to me. i’m excited for what’s to come & i can’t wait !

Hello, I am curious to know if you use drugstore makeup brands on your clients. I understand that the primary factors clients consider are the time and expertise of the makeup artist, rather than the specific brands used.
@julieruby9 ай бұрын
Hi! I don’t think it’s a bad thing at all to use drugstore products on clients just make sure they are high quality and not just something to save money. Yes, I do currently have drugstore items in my kit, but as I mentioned in the video, I am trying to target a luxury audience so I’m swapping them out for higher end brands.

Can I buy your palettes after your done?! I’m a freelance MUA as well
@julieruby9 ай бұрын
Hi! I am still going to use the powders that are within their shelf life and change them out once I’m done. If you’d like the empty palettes that’s completely fine, but I won’t be selling them with the powders since they’ll be expired at that point.
