At the end of the day I try to remember that it's just makeup. And it's silly to hold on to things you aren't using that are old or that someone else could enjoy!

I really would like to know how eyeshadows get old. I have ha eyeshadows at lest 6 to 7 years old and they are like... the same 😂 Maybe I am going blind, but I don't really think so. Maybe it's a trick to make us buy more, since an eyeshadow palette is a never ending product. Please comment what you guys really think. 😍

I’m sure that the expiration dates far exceed what the packaging says, which a lot of times is 6 months to a year (like, seriously??). I’m sure that there is the potential for mold and bacteria to grow on the powder, especially over time and as the different ingredients start to break down. But I think as long as it doesn’t look/feel/smell different it’s probably fine!

The chemical bonds can break down due to ingredients used and what type of environment they're in. Either the eyeshadows will lose pigment, mold, get a hard crust, or rot..making them smell bad. Overall, powders last the longest. Just keep it sanitized and every once in a while with a spritz of 90% isopropyl alcohol and clean your brushes every few uses, or at least wipe them off well and spray with that same alcohol. I've gotten eye infections this year :(

Whenever you feel the time is right to invest in a new eyeshadow palette I would say they are SUCH a great choice! My Nabla palettes are definitely top favorites in my collection.

Good Job Lauren!!! I have been taking this whole month to revisit all my Juvia’s place palettes and although my brain has difficulty with the color stories I’ve actually been have a blast using them.i decluttered the Karity picante palette to a friend at work and she loves it, I just have too many of those shades. Nabla come rule the world!!!😍

Unless they’re very, very old I give them away to friends, family, Co-workers, people at the theater I volunteer at...basically there are no shortage of people in my life that could use/appreciate the makeup I’m not using!

Also, I’ve been thinking about getting that NABLA secret palette but I have been holding off because it seems like it would be similar to my UD Born to Run and TF Chocolate Gold palettes. Do you think it would be unique enough from those two to add to my palettes?

Hmmm, that’s a good question. I haven’t ever owned either of those palettes, so I’m trying to think from pictures I’ve seen how similar they all are. They do have some similar vibes. It might not be worth it to get the Secret palette from the perspective of having unique shades, especially not at full price. As much as I love it!

Great question! So I bought a tripod on amazon for under $30. It has a part that screws into the bottom of my camera, and the height is adjustable, so I can set it up to film from a birds eye view while I sit on the floor!

What’s going on with Too Faced?

There have been a number of things over the years that the former owner and now creative director, Jerrod Blandino, has done that I haven't been a fan of. But most recently there was drama surrounding NikkieTutorials and her being blackmailed into coming out as a trans woman. I'm conflicted because I think there are a lot of great people that work for the brand, and I love their products. But he is a very prominent figure, and I know that actively promoting Too Faced just furthers his success and allows him to continue to feel "untouchable". I'm not one to cancel brands, but this is one of those situations where I feel like it's important to be honest with you guys about where I'm at and give you information should you want to look into the issues further yourselves.

@@laurenashley3708 I feel like you can still enjoy the Too Faced products that you bought a while ago because you like the actual item itself without now feeling guilty because of the drama that has gone on. You didn't purposely buy the items in order to support their company after you heard about the NikkieTutorials thing, so I would say to enjoy the items you have and don't feel like you have to let go of them when you spent your money on them when they still bring you joy. At the same time, it's good to be aware of what's going on and rethink about purchasing from them in the future from now on

No arguing here, just wondering. I don't follow Nikki and never will, I just prefer smaller KZbin channels I can relate to more. Your background is one of the nicest I have seen, very clean and organized.

With the Ciate issue... we're getting $30+ products in $25 boxes. The outsourcing doesn't bother me. We have to get out of the mindset that our $25 is worth more than $25. It's$25. That being said, they should have been more forthcoming about it. Just my opinion. Love the declutter! I couldn't have parted with any.

Very true. You're definitely getting your money's worth either way. But transparency and honesty still should be a thing. Especially if the ingredients you're formulating with are different from what you sell in stores. I think it's just one of those things people should be aware of, especially if they have sensitivities to certain ingredients. I'd hate for someone with a talc sensitivity to think the product they got was talc-free, because the original blush was!

I don’t blame you for decluttering the Emily and JH palettes. I never reach for the Emily palette because it is just too big. (Don’t have the JH palette.) I just swapped some unused BoxyCharm products for the Marvelous Mauves palette 🤣and I enjoy it, but I also wear that color story A LOT. I add a liquid or cream shimmer shadow on top. I do like the formula and the size is nice for my travel bag. The Milani Most loved Mattes has those type of shades plus, and the size is nice (yes, have that one too). Drooling over your Nabla palettes; when my no buy year is over, if I have moved some palettes out of my collection Nabla is the next in!

So, after NikkieTutorials shared that she was trans and that she was blackmailed into coming out, Jerrod Blandino's sister (who apparently worked for Too Faced) changed her Instagram profile to say something exceptionally rude and offensive in relation to Nikkie. And then she changed it saying that she meant no hate to trans people. And now word on the street is that they have let her go, but Too Faced didn't really release a statement or respond for a while to the whole situation. Either way, the Jerrod (the former owner and current creative director) has a history of being involved with/doing things that I think are unprofessional/shady. I'm conflicted because I don't think everyone that works for Too Faced is terrible, and I love their products. But I'm not a huge fan of him as a person, and he is in many ways the face of the brand. I think I have a responsibility to consider my influence both as a consumer and as KZbinr, and whether or not I want to continue to contribute to his success.

Hi Lauren, here in the U.K. we have never heard about persona brands ! In fact most of your brand we have no idea about the brand ! It’s nice to see other palettes you have access to , but if we try to buy products from overseas costs a fortune to purchase , like colour pop I can buy luxury for the cost of one , I did buy one eyeshadow but almost 10 £ for just one ! Easy no , no more I prefer to buy my Estée Lauder or Charlotte tilbury yes your palettes are expensive than our luxury products but that’s fine I love my Estée Lauder in fact I was a one brand woman up until about eighteen months ago , I have bout 8 quad palettes from Charlotte so yes a bit upset but no I will just buy between these two brands as my skin care is Estée Lauder being a mature lady I enjoy my luxury plus I know my skin no allergies , ! Love beauty reviews , yes products I have never experienced! So thanks and my love sent from the U.K. BREXIT DAY ! Hooray done and dusted ! Lizxxxx no my Jaclyn Hill didn’t blend for me so it went into the bin , only used twice both times wouldn’t blend so a total waste of money ! Sorry your being picky for a cheap palette if your so upset then buy the real thing , you can’t complain look at the price difference! I find you being so selective when the quality shows their price ! , if you want quality go for the real thing . We all expect a super palette , but remember be price reflects the price . I buy top glass so I expect it to perform as yet I have never ever had an issue . But remember at the end of the day you get what you pay for , yes I have tried copies did they confirm to me no , ISO I learnt my lesson I save up to buy the real thing then I am not upset ! But everyone knows you get what you pay for ! All my decluttering goes to my family , however I sanitise my eye palettes every three months and,I have beautiful palettes yes old but perfect because all my makeup is looked after , plus my brushes are deep cleaned each week it’s so important if your dipping your brushes into products which costs ! Just think ahead then you won’t be harmed by infection . Sorry just a warning then we can all enjoy our products and really have fun , but don’t expect something which is cheap that’s all !
