I remember reading somewhere that Sephora makes brands they stock release new products every X months or else they'll stop stocking them, it's one of the conditions of being sold at Sephora apparently. So that definitely explains the Beauty Blender thing to me, they don't have any new products to release so they just put out different colours of the same thing over and over to meet their obligation.

To me as a 40yr old is when we were teens 1994 up until say 2017? Cosmetic companies launched new lip products but everybody had their good staple products. They didn't have to keep re-inventing the wheel. If you started buying a few items here or there in 5 years you had your caboodle filled up and you just worked on different looks & color combo's with your Girlfriends. Now days they change every week for you to have to buy a new item. It's life fast fashion of makeup. It's so annoying. Every influencer moves on to what to sale you next. Instead of being like OK everyone this is the bomb tarte pallette, OK everyone has their pallette let's create some looks! It's just constantly moving the goal posts and it gets old!

Hi Lauren! I've worked at Ulta for almost 4 years, and for 2 years at Sephora prior. Smashbox has a following that do repurchase staple products. It seems the company is more focused on doing what they do well - primers. The halo glow tinted moisturizer they have out is amazing for oily skin IMO. So many brands have products that consumers continuously repurchase that don't receive hype - Tarte, too faced, Estee lauder, and urban decay are all super popular in store still.

Totally agree! I work at Ulta as well and we sell a ton from brands that have staple products even if they’d not “hyped” anymore. And smashbox primers are definitely in that category.

Someone tried to argue with me when I commented that the Naked palettes are still popular outside of social media land and they really thought it was the brand paying ulta to say that it was a bestseller. Reality is that some things are staples and user friendly while still preforming as the user wants.

RE: the beauty blender with the little throne, whenever I first bought the beauty blender the sales associate told me to keep the little plastic cylinder it came in and use that as my sponge holder, so that it sits on top when it’s big and wet, and as it dries it shrinks and is able to fall back into the container. Not sure if that was like an official bb methodology lol, but if so it seems extra silly that they are selling a whole separate product to do what their packaging already did. I guess it’s cuter? Idk lol

@@mimikyu4817 I use the plastic cylinder as a tool to dry my sponge. When it is wet, it is bigger than the opening of the plastic cylinder. The sponge sits atop of the cylinder while drying. Yes, it does fall into the cylinder as it completely dries. I remove it from the cylinder case and store it with my other dry clean sponges.

The useful thing about some of my wrong undertone concealers is I can use them for color correction. No need for the pink/peach corrector when most of my concealers are already too bright/pink/orange/yellow

I got the iconic London eyebrow cushion in my boxy charm and it actually was a good product it lasted over a year almost 2 years yes no kidding it did because it’s two different colors and a little goes a long ways. But then again I don’t do the big thick boy bushy brow was I have thinner brows but yeah it lasted me almost 2 years

I think one of the main reasons why beauty products go on sale at different places (like Marshalls) is to sell older stock before it expires. (Then if it still sells poorly, then it’s discontinued.)

I’m so happy that you said that the different colors feel different because I swear I thought I was nuts. I actually prefer the baby pink one it’s softer and then there was this one bluish teal one it was bigger and it was the softest one ever but I literally use that one to death haha. I looooooove the smashbox primerizer. And I don't seem to like anything as much .. no fragrance great skincare ingredients and sooo hydrating.. if something gives the same effect (I didn't find anything quite as close) it may have the same feeling bit not the same good ingredients or it contains fragrance.. And I also wanna try their halo tinted moisturizer I heard good things from people that have the same preferences as me .. and I'm curious about their Photo Finish Illuminate Glow Primer .. Smashbox is always hyped up in my mind .. especially their complexion products..

Warm water for your makeup sponge does help especially with cream products melt the products into your skin better but it's not needed you can use cold but cold thickens creams and liquids back up again so it's down to personal preferences

Halo contains (or contained when it came out) actual gold in it, which was supposed to be part of what made it luminescent. Assuming it wasn't reformulated along the way, it's probably too expensive to manufacture at this point, especially since sales have dwindled now that the hype over its newness is gone. I have drier than dry skin, but I used to use that powder (wet, which was one of its selling points) and it gave such a beautiful, natural glow without being dry or cakey. Slightly yellow for me, though, which was why I still tried other stuff. Ah, well. All the things that work well for me don't work for 90% of the population or cost too much to continue making, so they get discontinued. I guess I'll add this to the list. 😄 I've moved on to Monica Blunder's Blunder Cover for my complexion now, anyway. It's beautiful for dry, super pale, cool toned skin.

I have the Sarah Happ Lip Scrub in the old packaging, back when you got a whole ounce for $22 and it's my absolute favorite lip scrub ever!!! It's soooo gritty and thick in the best way you literally need less than a pea-size for both lips. My tub has lasted me ages but I'm going to repurchase it while it's on sale now. I'm just bummed to see they cut the amount of product you get in half.

The only time I tried Kopari was their deodorant, it was on sale during the Ulta 21 days of beauty. Everyone was hyping them up but after trying them once and having the worst experience. I don't think I'll ever buy from them. So I am not surprised any of their stuff is on sale. I feel like this is one of those brands that will be closing down. I just don't feel like they have anything that is a stand out.

Smashbox was my first foundation match ever, from one lady at Ulta many years ago. They were novel in having a range of deeper shades at a mid-price point. Other products I would try and loved but then they would quickly discontinue it so I don't want to see them go, but I also don't want to try something new knowing it's gonna be gone soon. The hydrating powder was novel many years ago but I have oily skin so it's not for me. I did buy and re-buy it but now I know better so sorry 😘

I surprised myself and got the Jaclyn blush sticks AND her powder highlight and they are both shockingly staples for me now. Not a Jaclyn stan- and not a morphe fan or supporter usually. But the blushes blend so nicely as do the highlights. Theresa is dead also said her putty highlight is great too so I might try that if/when it goes on sale!
