I think that most people use the word "undertone" incorrectly. I look golden. My veins look green. I am not a newcomer to this world, I'm already 62! My whole life I thought I had warm undertones. My mom used to tell us how we got "gold" in the sun when we were little. I thought I was a "spring." Fast forward to like a year ago when I got a professional color analysis and learned that my actual undertone is Cool. I asked them - they explained that my "overtone" is warm. It's not the same thing. Anyway, I thnk this is a reason that people have such difficulty finding good makeup colors and clothing colors. Thanks.

@vtcs1963 What foundation undertone do you buy for yourself? Neutral, Cool, Warm, or Olive?
@vtcs1963Күн бұрын

Really interesting, I have blue & green veins so educated guess is I have a neutral undertone & those foundations tend to work. I tend to steer clear of the likes of MAC where the undertones are swapped round - it's just confusing. For reference I have light skin, not fair but seriously tan in the sun. I remember going to Tunisia once & they laughed saying I was as dark as the natives lol. I tend to buy one dark shade every year to suit my summer shade if I am going away to a hot country.

Absolutely can’t thank you enough for showing me how to apply and more importantly what to apply. Did you use the same setting powder on your eyelids that you did for your face?

I agree with going out in sunlight. My best shade match is ivory rose with Estée Lauder DW. It took three times to find it. I ever would have picked that shade myself.

I'd also advise people to check out reviews from people online at the likes of Sephora as some foundations tend to oxidise ie become darker after an hour or so after wear; it's an expensive mistake to make especially here in the UK where you can't return makeup products. I only know of one person who successfully returned a product cos she had a severe reaction to it that the sales team couldn't ignore. It's hard here in the UK as we don't have a Sephora shop albeit we do have Selfridges etc for the likes of Dior, Guerlain, YSL, Chanel etc. I also check out reviewers who are shade twins to get an exact match and there's online a makeup skin matcher you can use if you know the existing shades of well known products you use - the more the enter the better the match you get on the foundation. I've always found the sales teams at the likes of cult beauty etc really helpful too in picking out shades.

I always found foundation to be tough to choose. The only ones I managed to perfect my shades are Nars, Shiseido, Huda, MUFE and a few korean BB creams like the Hemish and Dr Jart ones. However brands with tons of shades like Fenty are the ones where I can never find my shade. For me Nars have the best shade range

Hi there 😊did you know there's a lot of shade matches online where you can add in what shades you currently where in certain brands and it will then match you with the brand & product you want? Google it online, it's free, hope that helps 😊

i can’t make any foundations work for me other than the “c” range in mac all the other brands that have warm tones are too peachy / orange for me the golden ones also tend to be olive too i need something that’s basically only got yellow in

Absolutely can’t thank you enough for showing me how to apply and more importantly what to apply. At 21:49 are you using the Banana powder or the Laura Mercier Translucent? And which did you use on your eyelids? I’ve gone back a few times and I can’t figure it out.
