Greetings from 🇨🇦. I bought 2 mermaid palettes (1 for me & 1 for my daughter) purely for sentimental reasons. The Little Mermaid was the 1st movie I took her to as a child. She was 3 then and is now 24. Bcse of my age & hooded eyes I buy mostly matte palettes so it was nice to pick one up with so many metallics to jazz up my mobile lids. I like that you did a video like this because I know people HATED the Too Faced White Chocolate Bar palette but I LOVE it and it's part of my everyday collection. I always appreciate seeing people's different opinions on products. I know I was worried about getting my BoxyCharm this month because I didn't have high hopes for anything but the liner and primer and now that I have my box I'm enjoying every thing (except for two brushes because sincerely... They're just not right for me) I enjoy being surprised by things I didn't have any hopes for, because typically things I have high hopes for fall flat and things with low hopes rise above and become the items I reach for the most!

Singingmae many ppl thought that - for a mermaid/ocean related palette it's really pink & brown looking. Totally missing the blues and greens of the water and everything that lives in it. Then again Tarte is known for their neutrals, not for colors.

One product I had this same experience with, was the Too Faced Chocolate Gold palette. I first saw a picture of the palette from TrendMood and was 100% not interested. I thought it was gorgeous but wasn't into the colors. I was definitely NOT going to purchase. One day not long after, my husband and I were in Sephora. I saw it and it was just SO sparkly! Of course, I had to touch it. The quality was just so, so good! Still, I wasn't going to buy it. But because my husband saw me touch it, he decided to get it for me for Christmas. To this day, it is my all time favorite palette. The quality is amazing and I get such a variety of top notch looks out of it. Sometimes, you never know until you try something! There certainly have been a lot of products, especially recently, that I've had zero interest in. That's why I really enjoyed this video! It was really cool to see you excited about these products that you originally weren't about. I would love to see more videos or even a series like this! 💕

I absolutely love that Tarte palette. I, like you, was a little skeptical of the concept, but i have loved every look I have created with it for work and for going out. Those blue toned shades are absolutely beautiful! The formulation of the shadows works well for me. Tarte has come a long way with their shadow formula beginning with the Pro palette.

Love, love you're personality, looks and most of all honesty. One product I don't see talked about is the face primer I have used for almost four years. I have several different foundations for seasons changes, light to darker skin, from normal to oily. I use the Elizabeth Arden Visible Difference "Good Morning Retexturizing Prime". It works great with any foundation I have ever used. I am 51 years young and love this product! Glides on foundations so easy. The only place I've ever found it is at Dillard's. Strongly recommend on trying this gem out. Thank you for the lippie review, love that color on you.

For me it's the Kat Von D Saint Sinner palette. When I first saw it I was like "what randomness" but it's actually my favorite palette of ALL TIME. It inspires me. I love the looks I come up with from it, whereas all my other palettes are more monotone, naked/modern ren/orangey/etc. type palettes that I just grab to slap some shadow on, almost as a chore. Saint Sinner (and the too faced clover palette) actually get me excited to do a look, to play in makeup, not as a chore, but for fun.

Even though I love color and duo-chromes, I thought the too faced life is a festival collection was a little late (even though it was perfectly timed for festival season I guess). I am so glad I gave it a chance!! I admit it-- I love the palette so much!!!💖 It is full of unique colors, so pigmented, blends easily, lasts a long time, and applies beautifully whether you use fingers, wet or dry, yes dry brushes. Wet n wilds cushion foundation. I was sure I was not going to love it cause I usually don’t like cushion foundations and I also thought the lightest shade would not be light enough. I WAS SO WRONG. Love it. Nice natural finish and good coverage but not cakey. Also, BH cosmetics Zodiac Palette. It looked pretty but I was not expecting to love the shadows so much. Have done really pretty looks. The purples ended up being amazing. Very nice surprise.

I experienced this with the new Milani palettes. Loved the Bold Obsessions, but felt “meh” for the matte palette. Forced myself to use it and realized there is a bit of a learning curve with the mattes. Now if I stay to 3 shades and don’t overblend the colors won’t muddy up on me. Your eyeshadow tutorials really helped too! Now I love both palettes!

Two products I picked up and initially thought I'd made a mistake with were the NYX Wonder pencil, and tarte Rainforest of the Sea 4-in-1 spray. Turns out the Wonder pencil is the best waterline brightener ever and the tarte spray does great things for my skin, even without makeup.

I bought the Tarte palette over the weekend and *love it* so much. I totally had no plans of buying it, but while in Ulta looking for the BH Weekend Festival palette, I touched the Mermaid palette and *had* to have it! They wouldn't go in back to get the BH palette for me bc they just came in the day before and hadn't put them out yet....so I went back in yesterday and they were on shelf finally and I grabbed that one too. It's also *really* good palette. I used it today with the Stila Shimmer and Glow shadow in the shade Freedom, and omg it's such a gorgeous look! Very colorful for my 37 yr old eyes, but IDC.. I've been into color for some reason the last few weeks.

Thanks for the great video!! Could you please do an all-encompassing video on tanning/bronzing routines/advice? Self-tanners for body, face, spanning price ranges, favorite bronzers, adjusting your foundation shades (cover fx drops or the are the NYX ones ok, any other mixing type products), etc. I've always enjoyed my fair skin, but recently I played more with the Tarte Park Ave Princess bronzer I had in an old pallet and really liked it. I'm intrigued now in possibly keeping up a more "tanned" look this summer, but the entire process really intimidates me thinking back to my school days where all the girls were oompa loompas. Plus I'm on a tight budget, but I do want honesty if the fact is that there aren't any products in my price range that will give a realistic tan without turning green, orange, splotchy, etc. and I know you'll provide that honesty. I currently wear Wet n Wild Photo Focus in soft ivory which is just a touch dark for me for reference. Thanks!

Hi Emily! I have a funny story for you: you're the only makeup channel that I watch for years, since way before we became moms! My daughter is about to turn 3 and she knows every time I'm watching you even if all she hears is your voice; she'll say "It's Emily." Emily, would you ever do a full face review of Pixi? I use their peach corrector (I think you’d like it!), and always wonder about their other products. Specifically their lesser reviewed items like their concealer, powder and liquid foundations, bronzer, mascara, various primers, etc. They are pricey for the drugstore so it is hard to know what is worth our money. I love the Tarte mermaid palette. This is actually my first palette from Tarte and I am so impressed. Keep in mind though that I am a shimmer fanatic and I prefer having more shimmers than mattes. I also love the rose colors. If you’re like me then this palette is for you.

Yes I have had a hunch about a product that wasn't right! I was guilty of jumping on the negative ABH Subculture palette band wagon, even though I'd never seen the palette in person. After buying and loving Prism, I realized the mattes were the same formula as Subculture so I got it on sale and love it, too! I use it with an eyeshadow primer that has been set with powder, or on bare lids. If I use Shape Tape concealer as a base, there are blending and oxidation issues. I do believe people had a hard time with the palette and suspect they pressed later batches harder, which could explain why mine is good.
