HELLO Friends !
Hope your Monday is off to a good start. I wanted to talk today about Lavena Johnson and how her family still fights for her. This case is so sad and I just want to give the family a big big hug.
There is A LOT MORE to this case that I left out, I just tried my best to not make it too long, but please read more about the case within the links provided. Look all evidence points to this is a cover up so, what gives?
Thats really all I can say about that. Let me know your thoughts down below and I will be seeing you next Monday. Stay safe
OH PS : Sorry I didn’t show product images on screen, honestly, not feeling well and just need to go to bed.

First off, I want to extend my wholehearted thanks to you for serving. I have so much respect for you. You chose to stand up and defend of those of us that can't defend ourselves. That's the highest calling that I can imagine. That being said, it seems, to me, at least, that there's an underlying belief in the military that, when these assaults occur, the men that commit them are simply 'showing' their victims how they would be treated by an actual enemy. It's as if they see it as extra training that some 'soldiers' have taken it upon themselves to selflessly volunteer to instruct the women in. You know, since they can't make it an official part of bootcamp (or any other form of training) because the general public just couldn't/wouldn't understand the need for it. It's disgusting. I am so impressed by your refusal to be cowed by the experience and the resilience you've shown by not allowing it to break you down. There is simply no way that I could thank you enough for showing me a strength of character that I can aspire to possess. You are my personal hero. You are amazing.

As a former us army female veteran I’d say whoever assaulted her sexually was probably of high ranking or of a very important status to go so far and irresponsibly try to cover up the horrendous things he or they had probably done to her .. it wouldn’t be the first time that shit like that has happened in the armed forces ...we always here stories about sexual assault and cover ups happening ..thankfully I never saw it up close and personally... what I did see were drunk solider getting way too friendly with females thinking if they were drinking with them it was because she wanted it..😡 or thinking that because they were higher ranking they could get away with certain orders were they could put u in an uncomfortable situation. .. ... sorry for the rant 🤨

Thank you for your service ..Don't apologize. You just confirmed what this story is about basically. Im sure just cause you didnt hear about it where you were, doesn't mean it wasn't happening ya know. They (the female's) were probably told to keep their mouth shut. Smh its sad, yous put your life on the line, and are away from your families and work your ass's off just like the men do. Its not right in this day and age we're still not considered equal to them. And you saying it was probably someone of a higher ranking makes perfect sense.

I completely agree as a former Air Force veteran it gets swept under the rug. Especially if it's a high ranking soldier. I was ashamed for over 10 years for what happened to me when I was serving in the military overseas. I was raped and not only in the hospital for a week I had to have 2 surgeries and was told to keep my mouth shut or else. I was young and scared. I did have a battle buddy and she's the one who saved me unfortunately she was threatened to and she had alot more to lose then I did so we kept our mouths shut. And it was told I had kidney stones for the cover up. Almost 12 years later with major PTSD, I try and advocate against it. All I have to say is it's all bullsh*t when the military states they have zero tolerance for sexual harrassment.

Even as someone who’s been in over 13 years, the military has to be called out for this. They need to be called out for Fort Hood, Capt Crozier, for Vanessa Guillen, LaVena Johnson, for any service member who had been harassed or assaulted. It’s not a discredit against service members to call out the branches for what they have done wrong or put their members though unjustly.

As a Army vet myself, I have to say-- Nothing could be more real or true. I was assaulted, and told that while I was overseas my LTC "owned my body" and could do as he pleased. When I got back to the states, all of my reports were nowhere to be found. There was literally no proof that I had turned anyone in. I will always send thoughts to this sweet girls family.

The injustices against women and people of color are horrifying, but unfortunately unsurprising. Thank you for talking about this case and I really appreciate the way you speak about cases involving people of color. They are so often glossed over and dismissed. Please don't stop this sort of coverage! I myself am mixed race, but very white-passing, so I don't fear for my life the same way a lot of other people of color do, but I feel for them and care about them and obvi want justice for them. I know a lot of white people feel the same way, but they just aren't exposed to these horror stories, and don't know how pertinent and prevalent of an issue it is. Keep up the good work! P.S. I love your makeup lol

When I was 17 I wanted to join the military and went and saw a recruiter and after that I told my dad that I already talked to someone and that I wanted to join. My dad was in the miltary and he said absolutely not and not because of war or anything like that. He said that if I were a boy he would support me in joining but because I'm a woman it would be to dangerous because of our own soldiers. He told me a few stories of women he was deployed with and stories other men had told him.... he told me men in the military are monsters.... nothing about this poor womans story surprises me...

I've served in the Marine Corps and the army. When my baby cousin told me she wanted to join and wasn't gonna change her mind I told her straight up to go Marine Corps because it's a smaller, tighter knit organization. I knew that rapists exist everywhere, but I felt safer in the MC where they instill brotherhood and a sense of protection even towards us females. In the army my anxiety was through the roof, I never felt unsafe around specific people but I knew in general there weren't many people I could trust or reach out to should anything happen to me. I told her this and she says it really made her understand things much more. It's hard convos to have, but they must be had. I'd be doing her a disservice by not talking about the dangers and possibilities for us women.

There's a documentary about self defense I saw years ago that said that if you can reach your attacker's eyes, to try and press your fingers (or if you have long nails, then your nails) into their eyeballs. The pain will make them let go of you and they will be disoriented enough for you to get away. Then there's the classic kick in the balls strategy.

This story was heartbreaking then & it still is now. The Johnson family is still fighting for her & sadly, they still have not seen justice. The military is a POWERFUL force. & often times they use that to their advantage. LaVena didn’t deserve this. She would have been 33 this year. She & I aren’t that far in age. I didn’t know her but my heart still breaks for her family. She did NOT commit suicide, this was indeed a murder. The military even knows that. But if they rule it as such, then they’ll have to figure out WHO. & they don’t want to release that information 💔 Hence why gloves were GLUED to her hands. DNA doesn’t lie.

@@brookem2460 Yeah, my father was a tank commander and marksman. I know he would have supported me if I had went ahead and joined against his wishes. But I know that he seen things that happened that he could never forget, not just in Vietnam, but with the way they had treated the women fighting along side of them. He told me a few things, but not a whole lot. He never liked talking about any of it. That always tore him up though, telling me how a lot of the men talked to and treated their female comrades. So sad. Have a great day!! Be safe!!

I remember as a kid my mom had told us a few times to always fight back and to do things like scratch. Even saying you may not win, but you'll still send them prison if you fight back and that has always stuck with me

This is, without a doubt, the saddest and most unbelievable story I’ve ever heard. My heart breaks for this family. I’m a military spouse and astounded at this obvious cover-up. Thank you for covering this.💗

Battles (Battle Buddies) are so important. They are basically a person that you really trust with your life and belongings. Sometimes it's someone you trust enough to say there's a problem can you have my back. It's like a higher form of a best friend. It's a very special title to be called someone's "Battle". I feel horrible for her that she felt so alone that she didn't even have a battle.

This is an absolute disgrace! Our military should step up and do the right thing. Just despicable! That poor woman and what her family has been through is deplorable! I'm glad you have brought this back into light Bailey. This should not be forgotten.

I’m an Army veteran and got into my fair share of trouble for not putting up with the abuse and racism. It’s a white boys club and everyone who is neither is expected to tolerate whatever mistreatments may come. “Drive on” as they say. I was in around the time this was going on and had no idea. This story continues to haunt me. Prayers to PFC Johnson’s family, prayers to all my sisters in arms.

It's GHASTLY what this poor thing went through. It's APPALLING that she was made to feel like she was causing trouble by talking about being assaulted. Not to mention harassed, shamed, and made to live in fear!😞

This case STILL HURTS ME and she wasn’t any kin or a friend to me. There’s no words to describe how cruel and inhuman how they killed this poor woman. I really pray they get what they all deserve and the family can get some peace of mind. I can’t believe that people like this live on the same earth I live on. Like why?!

This is one of the most troubling stories you've covered. Just the thought of her suffering in silence after a sexual assault makes me terribly sad. And she was so hopeful about Christmas, only to have something horrific happpen to her. Hope whoever hurt her and anyone covering it up rots in hell smh

This is probably one of the stories of your series that really hurt my heart the most. To know someone so young and full of life and had so much ahead of them to be taken advantage of, killed and covered up as if they meant nothing is so infuriating. I still can't believe this
