i have to agree with the fact that brown girls have to work harder to make their makeup look on point. beauty companies need to make more products that are more inclusive so that everyone can enjoy them. i’m quite light skinned so i don’t have the same problems but both my bestfriends are both beautiful dark skinned indian gurlies…def gonna share this video with them ❤️

Never thought that I would have to change my techniques since the Northeast isn't known for all year sun exposure so I definitely appreciate everything that you do for brown/people of color. PS you are so freaking beautiful...I can't wait to see the continued growth for you in social media. Very important for diversity instead of 20 shades of white *cough* *cough* Tarte

Even Middle Eastern are brown people, hence the pigmentation. You don’t hear blacks say otherwise even if they have fair skin. European white mainly don’t have hyperpigmentation unless it’s a skin condition. Many might not even consider you fair. So your skin and an Asian persons skin isn’t any different. I’m black and I’m here cos the ladies skin tone is closer to mine but I don’t call myself a brown girl, but just black 😅

I wish you were around 39 years ago! I've learnt so much from you.. Since my youth I could never find the right shade or type of foundation and concealer so I've never worn either my entire life. I'm totally clueless when it comes to picking the right shade.. even when I go to a make counter for assistance they always use shades that are far to dark for me or bring out my pigmentation making it look grey. And I can never find the right shade of 'nude' lipstick as they just don't look any good one me so I always end up going for bold shades! Please keep doing what you do, I've picked up so many tips from you! Thank you ❤🇬🇧❤

As a hobby artist I am so glad color theories and such are catching on! I personally think the color spectrum and language within the makeup industry is so outdated and narrow! Warm and cool undertones are too limiting, when neutrals and olives also exist. At this point I echo the sentiment on having fine artists becoming in charge of a makeup brand so we can have a plethora of shades more!

a great tip fo finding the depth of shades with out trying it on, take a picture in black and white and compare it to a picture of your face also in black and white. that's going to let u know if something is deep enough for you because in black and white you only see the value of the color not the shade. if it looks like the same value as ur skin or lighter then it'll probably wash you out! Thats color theory for you!

@makeupbymonicaa Can’t believe this is your first long-form video. With your smooth style and significant followership I assumed you’d been making these way longer. Even though I’ll probably never pursue content creation, you do give me some hope. And I love your tips! I’m pretty good at figuring out lip shades that work well for me, but face makeup has always been a little trickier because I’m on the border of neutral/olive/warm. When I saw you were talking about color theory, I thought you’d go about it a different (equally good) way, but this was so helpful! Love your pointers on setting powder, lip shades, blush… and the blue pigment! What?!!! I’ve got to look for that now.

I have been waiting for a longer video from you! Brown girl makeup has always been a challenge for me, make up for lighter or white skin has always been a trend since forever. Not that it is a bad thing if it is what you're looking for, but as a brown girl myself and beginners when it comes to makeup, i always think that I am the one that cannot learn properly. I always find it hard to search for makeup inspo, I didn't even think back then that there are makeup that will OR will not look good on my skin tone. I just thought makeup is makeup and what looks good on "that person" will look good on me, when it fact the testimony comes from a way lighter skin tone than mine. It's just nice to find somebody that openly talk about skin color + make up, and not just about make up Ps. thank you for sharing and making me understand more about the relationship between my skintone and makeup. And I can't wait for your upcoming videos! ❤
