I misspoke (several times) but primarily I want to correct something that I incorrectly remembered, the DISCHARGE current is only 250mA in 300mA and 500mA modes, and 500mA in 750mA and 1000mA (1A) modes. The charge current is as the mode is named. Still, I'd like a 100mA discharge option for the particular cells I'm testing.

FYI. When charging Lipo 23:05, you should be charging them at 1C. So if they are 1000mAh you charge them at 1A (1000mA). As far as NiCD or NiMD it depends on what the battery is rated for when charging. Most can be charged at 1C but they can get hot and can damage the battery. 200-500mA for AAA, 300-700mA for AA is what most charge at to maintain battery life. TBA, a RC charger like the SkyRC B6 would be better for charging/testing these batteries. As you can adjust the current better for the Lipos and Li-ions. 3:00 You should not have those lipos stored like that with exposed wires. That is a house fire waiting to happen.

Charging at a rate less than 1C is better for the long term health of the battery, especially for NiMh/NiCd cells. And I don't really store my batteries like that, it was a joke. I thought it was obvious in context.

That's right sir. I've been charging my NiMH AAA Energizer/Philips 850/950mAh made in China and Eneloops made in Japan (min. 750mAh, real 850-900mAh) batteries with 500mA without any problem. Sure, they get hotter but working since 2014-2015 without a complaint. NiMH/NiCD should be charged with at least 0,25-0,3C.

@@dondolarson5134 Charging NiMH vs LiPo vs Li-Ion have completely different charging mA/A. for NiMH AAA/AA I normally charge at 500mA no matter the mAh. Li-Ion depends on mAh, usually check the datasheet or see if battery mooch has a list up for it. Lipo you charge depending on mAh. If its 1000mAh you charge at 1A, 5000mAh you charge at 5A, etc, etc. You can fast charge these but will degrade the battery really fast. Personally I always charge at a C for long life when it comes to Li-Ion. NiMH are so cheap if they die they die.

@@pheelix- I was referring to the movie sentence of triple A batteries going to or might blown when 500mAh is applied to 'em. That's actually not the case, unless you charge them in an oven or maybe, or more probably with some cheap, unbranded batteries of China origin which can be exploded before they even arrived to your postal office.

Very interesting tutorial, man! What charger do you recommend for batteries that come with multiple cells in series? And what about those that use multiple cells in parallel too? like notebook batteries

Awesome video, speaking of batteries you wouldnt happen to know a good replacement for the DS Lite? .

Nothing in particular. I was planning on looking at that eventually though. No reason you can't use something custom like I do in the SP though.

@@makho I'll have to try that really beefy extended one with the extra large battery plate.
