Game Boy Advance Tactile Switch Mod

This looks to be a clone of my AGB_TACT mod but with a few small changes. They scrubbed my name off but had custom membranes made up but otherwise it's unashamedly made from my work.
As is, these are all over aliexpress but I cannot recommend any specific sellers.

I wish there were Start Sleet mods. I'm going to buy a bunch of metal membrane buttons and send those to a local guy here who does mods, who knows, maybe he'll be able to pull it out. Congrats for the hard work!

Hey if you don’t mind me asking, where’d you find that transparent electrical mat? I have a bunch of stickers under a big piece of glass on my desk and I want a work mat that I can leave on my desk without covering them up

Is the negativity on the Boxypixel shell due to it being an early print? Or just something that would still be an issue with current revisions?

Seems to be an ongoing issue. And even if it were an early release only issue, I didn't pay to beta test this stuff.

They shoulda really just gave you some kind of credit. I mean yeah, it's probably not that hard to design that from scratch and Froggo Custom designed and sells these for repair purposes on his Etsy but still. Give credit where credit is due.

@@makho for real, I am planning out a shell model that is a bit bigger than the advance and will be using the membranes of the SP. I will also be using Elliott's techniques when he made the long boi gba. It's a big project for me and your videos are so informative

I don’t see the point in doing a tactile button mod. I tried it and it just doesn’t feel right with the original buttons and membrane pads, it feels rigid/stiff and requires more force when pressing, plus it can be pain to desolder/repair if it stops working. Some buttons can be easier to press and clickier than others, it does not feel like the press of a GBA SP,DS, DSi, 3DS, Vita and the Switches buttons. I think it’s best to just leave the buttons alone and clean the pads with IPA and contact cleaner.

The longer travel distance for the tactile mod on an AGB vs the shorter travel distance of any console designed for tact switches is noticeable. It's not bad, imo, but it's definitely different.

@@makho I think this mod needs custom membranes and buttons for it to feel close to the SP. As is, i recommend using OEM membranes pads.

he said that Funnyplaying send it to him but its actually not being made by Funnyplaying, this mod has been on Aliexpress for multiple months now and being sold by alot of stores on there. i have it in my GBA and its working perfectly after adding a small piece of thin cardboard under the dpad.
