Okay so that hook and eye box pleat situation is actual genius!!! I absolutely hate doing all kinds of closures, I will do ties over buttons/snaps/zippers any day of the week but this is just brilliant and I'm really gonna think about good ways to use that trick in upcoming garment constructions! Also really enjoying your pattern weight rocks, very nice rocks!!

Lovely dresses. And yes, agree on having a fun project to clear the pallet after the big jobs. I myself and trying to turn a 17th century tie-on pocket into The Mother of All Fishing Pockets. I can walk to the river from our apartment and fish in the shadow of Parliament Hill. All I need is a way to get a thermos of coffee, a bottle of water, a tuna fish sandwich minimal fishing kit and minimal watercolour & sketch kits down to the water in style. In any event, making fabric boxes that attach to other fabric boxes is fun... my pocket has pockets... huzzah... Favourite animal - guinea pigs. We've been a piggie family for around 20 years now. They are much fun. - Cathy (&, accidently, Steve), Ottawa/Bytown

I adore the box pleat solution. It looks fantastic! And your mum's dress fits her so well, you also knocked it out of the ball park. Thank you for sharing this with us!

These came out great, they look pretty and comfy, and the hook and eye closure is genius. I could also picture that solution with a decorative hook and eye that go on the outside of the box pleat - I kind of want to try that now. Also I love that you were already wearing your own dress while making your mom's :D

Both dresses are awesome! Now I just want to make dresses for every day wear. Really great tip on what to do when you don't want closures! My favorite amnimal? Cows, closely followed by ducks :D

Can my favorite animal be a specific individual? Cause I've got a kitty curled up under my arm and I am extremely biased. Your lightbulb moment was very clever! I don't think I would have thought of the hook & eye trick! I love your mom's smile, and I found the pleats on the skirt part of the green dress very lovely!

I work at a zoo, asking me to pick favorites is unfair but today it’s probably ring tail lemurs, they were being cute today. (I work with guests not animals before anyone asks)

I really liked both of these -- AND mom's pink hair! A duck, but we won't talk about that, because it's rude to talk about ducks (family joke).
