I think the game itself rewards moving material over longer distances in the price it pays out.

The game gives you more money for how far away the resources move. Although it’s not line length but how the crow flies from resource to production to town, so his line he has going around the canyon wasn’t making much money because although it’s long, the distance between the town and the product was a very small distance, just a distance with a big drop which the game doesn’t calculate 😂

Need to just make a train station at the new brick factory, make the train pick up and bring it up to the two towns up there. The tracks go literally 100 feet from the factory lol. Just bring sand via train, yes its different cargo type but much more worth imo

I feel like it would make so much more sense to run the train to Salem for fuel via San Francisco and high point so you could kill off the bus line and make it a train line while sharing tracks and if you add a passenger platform in Salem you could have the train station right across the street from your bus terminal. Then you could move the existing busses you do have to other cities with no service. But i know you are way ahead so it’s probably irrelevant now sadly. Edit: if you bring in more raw materials for the steel mill if there is not more shipping capacity then its not going to do anything you need more trucks on the train, in reality you should just bring the train to the steel mill and eliminate the trucks as a factor.

You don't need to set up a complete line i.e oil sand > factory > onward delivery. Just set up oil sand > factory . It'll still make money as you are transporting product. Care about the end delivery later when you have money .. You omplain about not having much money and doubtful of being able to build the train line/train at this start .. Proceeds to blow about 100k on "making roads look nice" , 250k on a road depot and buys 3 trucks to deliver the end product ... That would've been 1 extra cargo carriage
