@@lukass6c7 it is not live wood. But actually some machined dry wood that when put into an aquarium, usually floats at first unless like ‘boiled’ in water to saturate it but I usually just use a decent sized rock underneath it or drill a small hole in the bottom for said rock. Then it sinks, stays and saturated over time.

Lookin goooood! I personally make all of my driftwood by myself. I use hardwoods like azalea, maple, crepe myrtle, oak, and manzanita. I bake them in the oven at 200 for a few hours. Then I throw them in my tanks, and they naturally get debarked by the water, and faster with plecos. The manzanita may need sand blasting.

@@ML-ks2lj If I remember right, you boil the wood before using it to get rid of saps, molds and tannins that stain and contaminate your tank, so that should help!

Thank you! I've been trying to see how I can make my bird bath unique. I made a bird bath, but I wanted to decorate it. I bought dried flowers and I'm going to try and put preserved moss on the tree. how did you grow the java moss in a jar?
@Helveteshit5 жыл бұрын
@AquaPros, Personally... I would use cotton or similar filter medium to decorate the tree with. Then plant the montecarlo on that. To give it some rooting medium to protect it from fish and similar. But also provide a strong area for bacterial growth due its porous nature. Since the water flow will not be mainly flowing through it, it will not clog up until the roots built a carpet. But trimming the roots will be simpler since you have less risk of harming them with a layer of cotton preventing you from cutting too much.

After I came across this video, I got myself bonsai tree drift wood and I am excited:-) You mentions that all I need to do is just stick the moss in the spot and good to go and no glue needed but I am curious, if I needed to put near current (out take area) so bamboo shrimp can use as step and also good for aqua scaping, then, moss would still be on the driftwood and would not float away? I got gorilla glue gel I got from aquarium coop but I also heard it becomes white when wet and I also have green thread but I am worry to break the twig if I tie it to the branch spot.Thank you.
