Seeing young men work like this gives me hope for the future.

I have a self-contained hammer in my shop. But I learned over 60 years ago that a man gets less done while sitting. I did not learn this in my shop but on my fathers Texas ranch. Sit and you would instantly learn why you shouldn’t. Oh, you’re gonna put an eye out too. Glasses are actually cool.

Sir in a kind and humble way I really don’t understand what sitting down while ranching has to do with sitting down at the powerhammer? It makes absolutely no negative difference when you’re working at a powerhammer… In fact it’s more relaxing and therefore less fatiguing. Also I’m not sure why you think I’m going to put an eye out? This type of forging does not put your eyes at significant risk… And as you can tell by the way I dress I really don’t care if something is cool or not.

Interesting video! What is your cost for running than shop for a day. Diesel for the aircompressor and gas for the forge etc?

I’m like osha I noticed none of you young guys wear safety glasses.

We wear safety glasses all the time when the job requires it via common sense… As you noticed Samuel was grinding with a face shield on? What did you mean by this comment?

Good job Ethan , wow that Hammer shakes the ground ! Could see it jump the camera with each blow from some feet away . Wonder the weight of the hammer ? I have two Massey hammers recently purchased , a 400 lb one and a 10cwt one . I can see I’m going to need a lot of concrete under them ! I love steam equipment , actually I’d say your hammer would pack more punch with steam , it has better expansion and the cylinder would be more freer with being hot . Keep up the great work cheers Tim from New Zealand

Wow those Masseys sound really fun! That steam hammer has a 600 pound ram, and the total weight with the anvil is about 11000 pounds.

I think I would be neat if Timothy made the hammers himself but great work man

Is that an IKEA step stool? Swedistan approves
@EthanHarty2 жыл бұрын
I think it is IKEA. I’ve had it ever since I can remember. It used to be my bedroom work bench when I was 8-10ish so there’s gouges, paint, and marks all over it.

I just got a bad ass deal on 2 hammers this guy has them on ebay 2lb Rounding Hammer he has the buy now price at 150 but the starting bid is only 50 and the same with the 3lb crosspeen I got both hammers for 100 I was the only one to bid and they are really nice 1045 I don't know how the guy can stay in business selling them for 50 they are the first hand forged hammers I ever bought And I will never forge with a store bought Hammer again the difference is incredible

I have weld repaired many cast parts. At least give it a shot and test your welding skills. I call that saw part an easy fix, but your won't know if you don's try! Nick, North West Farmer (Oregon)

Everyone tries to make the "magic" forging hammer. I guess that is what a person does when they have little skill.; You have to depend on magic.
