You seem to be a reasonably knowledgeable mechanic , so why do you want to round off nuts and bolts with those improper tools.

Nice lathe. Looks like the ones we used in high school shop class. They were all WW2 surplus.

Pedantic distinction time: Crescent is/was a brand known for their distinctive high quality tools. Not every vaguely crescent shaped adjustable wrench should be called a crescent wrench.

TBHH this is peak efficiency, guy with the peg is standing on the ground, working on what i’d assume to be a homemade anvil or a tool specially designed for this. The two men standing on a more shocker resistant surface than concrete, (force = mass x acceleration) (mass = force x acceleration and density x volume) Bottom line, they’re getting it done quicker with 2, man in the green shirt managing the metal might wanna wear some gloves but damn these guys know how to do something right quickly.

Wrought delaminates easily on edge grain. But moves like butter on grain even at low temperatures. It does depend on quality though too. Most of the stuff that was used to make farm equipment here in Australia is of a pretty poor quality for decorative forging, and splits far more easily.

First semester in HS Vocational mach shop class the guy behind me friction welded the dead center tip into the center drill of the round stock, it was red hot when he wheeled the center back after it started squeelin so loud, the teacher about blew a head gasket, a year later I got a full time 2nd shift job while still a senior and of course saw a live center for the first time, the teacher's "crib" was full of donated new tools like Starret mics, indicators etc. town I'm from was heavy in industry with the 4th largest steel mill in the country and tool and die shops all over and in neighboring towns too which is where the new tools all came from a long with all the machines in the shop which is probably one of the biggest HS shops in the country, needless to say i'd bet there were at least 50 brand new live centers in that "crib"
