Using a cheap Chinese compact metal bender, I show how to make a 90 deg bend in 1-1/2x1/4" hot rolled steel. Thanks for watching!

Love this bender. I usually drink a beer on every bend I make. It defenetly makes the job go faster. If I mess up I don't care!!

I love that you show all the trials and errors in this. Like you mentioned on your other channel. It's a learning curve. Because I just spent the day replacing rivets on my jeep's fender flares and it was comical. Me fighting with the stupid things. I probably should do some tutorials on fixing my jeep. Thanks again for sharing this.

I have the bench mounted bender. I use an adjustable support to hold the bar in line with the handle so the bar stays square development i.n the bender

Now that's what I'm talking about. I need to make a bunch of bends so that I can weld up a bunch of fxtures with my everlast. That bender is exactly what I need.

Well it did the job , might get the torch out and heat it up a bit for thicker stuff. I notice a lot of steel these days crack at the bend.

Hi thanks for tutorial. The spec says this will do 5/8" solid round but do you think it would actually bend 3/4?
@farmboysgarage7595
@farmboysgarage7595 7 жыл бұрын
I'm not sure, but if I had to bend some, I'd take a torch and heat it up some first. Takes a lot of strength to use this thing.

I think they're all very similar in design from what I've seen. This one has a pin in the handle but it's either all the way in or out.

The instructions with most of these are useless. However, the British Clarke company has a downloadable 36 page manual for them. It isn't perfect and has the odd obvious error but it's a huge help. 😊

What if you heated the metal. Would that make it easier, less stressful on the bender
@farmboysgarage7595
@farmboysgarage7595 6 жыл бұрын
It definitely would but you'd have to be careful where you heated it.

You'll want to bend it in the same manner, just go slightly beyond 45 deg because the metal will tend to spring back when released.
