I like the artwork, but 14 million..... 14 million???

Its a sad state of affairs in Australia, a reflection of our stupidity perhaps, that we spend $14 million on something between a massive turd or a donut. The Emperors New Clothes had nothing on this fiasco

This sculpture looks amazing. I remember the money that was floating around in the royalties for regions scheme and all these ugly stainless steel ‘works of art’ started popping up even in national parks which is so inappropriate. I know a lot of people might be critical of a sculpture costing $14 million but it’s also how the art is employed. One thing at odds though is to see on this video the artist standing back as other skilled workers cut holes in the steel really takes away the authenticity of an original work by the intended artist in the first place?

What is it supposed to be? How much, say, medical equipment does A$14,000,000 buy? IOW, it’s nonsense. Like another (kinder) commenter said, ‘what’s the point of ‘art’, of the artist doesn’t make it’?
