The only thing preventing this truck from appearing fully authentic and full scale is how clean it is. the detail is so complete. This is my first time visiting this site and I thank you for showing it to all of us.

Beautiful B type, I've looked high and low for a similar scale Mack R type ten wheel dump truck to no avail. This base kit looks like an option, nice build.

Spenjere, Thanks for your positive comments. Yes, as I stated in the video, that is how I evolved my approach to the build after discovering the Kingkong model. Stay well and in touch, BEST, Tom

That is so cool, i have a KK CA-30 that i made into a dump truck for our rc mining equipment when i was poor, that cheap chassis has turned out to be an absolute workhorse of our mine site, stone dead reliable for years despite being dogged on and worked to death.

also love the old school model making in this video, all my model makin is done in cad then printed out.

That's one awesome build! The cab looks pretty realistic as does the whole chassis. I especially like the dually-setup on the rear-axle with the larger tyres. You really nailed that classic look!

Very cool. I'll definitely use some of these techniques when I finally get around to converting my Bruder Mack. I'll have to stick with the WPL trucks for now, though.

A little more weight over the front axle to help the steering!
@cranemodelbuild323611 ай бұрын
Thanks for your observation! Yes indeed, I had not anticipated that the 20 pound trailer weight (loaded with four 3/4" thick slabs of oak model crane swamp mats resulting in an additional 5 pounds on the 5th wheel) would have such a significant impact on the model's turning ability. As my video explained, I tried to minimize the impact of the soft/grippy dually tires mounted on solid axles by lining the tires with slit lengths of 5/8" garden hose. Actually initial tests on the originally lined tires saw the sharply turned front tire wanting to fold off the wheel, so at least that outcome was avoided🎈 Best Regards, Tom

I have a Mack Construtor 3/4 cab with a trailer dump model I built in the late 60’s. The entire rig is maybe 20” long. Not sure of the scale. I think it was an AMT model. I assembled and gave it to my late father as a gift. He had it out for a while when new then it went into a box for 50yrs. I found it when I had to go thru his estate 5 yrs ago. Its all there but after many years passing the model glue has mostly given up. It was red, black and chrome plated styrene. It’s in really great shape aside from the glue giving up. I want to bring’er back and restore her. I am an RC guy now. I have many 1/10, 1/18 & 1/24 scale Was thinking about electrifying the model! Do you think I should keep it a static model? I am afraid one hot lap in a newbie’s hands might tear off all the nice pieces on the sides. 😢
@cranemodelbuild323611 ай бұрын
Sounds like a personal decision. If you cherish it like you seem to, I would either "keep it on a mantle" or possibly RC it, but NOT as a BASHER or CRAWLER but rather as a limited use show model. In any case, ENJOY IT as best you see fit! Best, Tom
