Making a Back Scratcher

On this week's show, an extremely simple project that you can get your kids involved in. Bring them out to the shop and have them make one of these simple back scratchers. Start the woodworking fever in them today.

Thanks for the kind words Chad. I agree. Start the children in the shop instead of on the electronics and create another generation that appreciates the value of hard work to obtain a goal instead of a handout with no satisfaction. I think the new generation of children has been altered in a bad way since wood shop classes have been taken out of the school programs. Sad really.

I just seen a turning lathe back scratcher. You make great videos maybe do a lathe back scratcher.

Way to go Kenny, now you are on my level. haha Over the years I have made a few back scratchers but none are as good as the door post. And, unless you live in a round house, you have plenty of them. Great idea for the kids and a great video also. God Bless my friend.

Nice little Project that Ken, my back Scratcher is the best of the lot and I have even named her, she's called Tracey ha ha. Seriously though i have a back Scratcher which I use when i have an itch or two or when i'm Resting and can't reach that spot, it's an extended one and its great, perfect for me when i'm Resting and getting that itch that i can't reach. These ones like you said would be great prezzies off the kids, these would also be great to use especially while Resting after a long day as well. No such thing as scrap hardwood......just pieces of wood that folks aren't sure what the heck to do with Paul. I think they can send all their scrap hardwoods to you and I and we can split them among ourselves. LOL. Thanks for tuning in sir. Good to hear from you.

I can honestly say that I haven't thought about that. I have thought about a boomerang sleeping aid though and that is about what it would be if I were the one throwing and attempting to catch a boomerang. LOL. Thanks for tuning in and for the kind words.

Kenny why not just redraw your profile of your handle on the other side, instead of taping back on the cut off piece? 7:14-8:40

Tim, you wouldn’t do what you suggested because you’d be bandsawing over a void (caused by the finger part of the scratcher). Not super safe, and the wood can vibrate uncontrollably. It’s way safer to have the flat face down against the table of the saw.
