I did this same thing, just speed recycling scrap to up the holmium rate to eventually recycle supercapacitors for the legendary holmium ( and for the legendary supercapacitors and superconductors). The one thing I didn't know at the time was the full-stack-only output trick and I massively regret not having designed it around this. I've since won and stopped the run. But maybe I'll dip back in and rebuild all of that with the full stacks. That was definitely my biggest limitation, just throughput of the recycled scrap output since I was throwing most of it away for the critical items.

For something low-throughput like there where full transfers aren't really necessary, you can set the stack size on the inserter and the threshold to 4 and things will be cleared out even quicker and fully stacked on the belt.

Nilaus, you can't craft holmium plates at above normal quality because it only uses a liquid input, but you can insert quality modules into the foundry and get quality holmium plates. I've got a setup in my game where I build all the basic legendary stuff from Fulgora. My extractors and recyclers have quality modules and then I have many setups to upscale the 12 ingredients (some setups deal with several ingredients at once. I know you've solved legendary through asteroid recycling and lds shuffle, but I found that going the fulgora way was really elegant. I'd love to see your own instanciation of a similar Fulgora setup, maybe in a futur series. It's a great challenge because if any upscaling island breaks, everything breaks. Upcyclers are fun, if you get enough of them you almost don't need a sushi loop because you void everything you don't need, meaning your scrap utilization is at 100%. Which is honestly the biggest hurdle of Fulgora seeing as sifting through all the crap is what limits the availability of holmium.

At last, a use for iron chests! Still, I think you should feed the recycled plates from gears into a provider with a stack inserter that then feeds into the chest assembler. Wire the inserter to the chest, put on a minimum availability threshold, and voila you have a surplus of iron. Doing it this way also allows you (with some clever placement) to feed the recycled iron chests back into the same passive provider. Which is fun. On another note I wish the tungsten and holmium chains were swapped. Because Vulcanus is the fluids planet. It's a real shame you have to turn Holmium into a fluid because otherwise making it from quality scrap could be a really interesting challenge.
