Very talented. My daddy was a wonderful, detailed oriented woodworker. Started out by building cabinets to make a living for his family, but taught himself how to make anything. My mama joined in later, my brother & sister. All I got was a love of the craft, the smells of his shop & a love of wood. I have seen a couple of your videos & love your work. It's really, really enjoyable to watch. You seem to very much love what you do & the things I have seen you make, beautiful!

On your website you state that the fly boxes you were selling are not designed for actually fly fishing. I was wondering what would need to be done to those in order to change that?? Perhaps a coat of Poly? Are you worried about them warping? Thank you for all of your videos, I have learned so much watching them.

Given that you do almost EVERYTHING by hand, other than rough cuts with the bandsaw, I was quite surprised to see you using a table saw for the mitres!

That's so awesome that you can make something so useful out of a piece of "junk"! Is that fly box waterproof? Not that that matters much, also does it float?
@DragonOfTheRiver

I think we will see the finish on the next video. Should float just fine too. Beautiful work!
@ThirdCoastCraftsman

Michael Corson, the wood is finished with danish oil, and polyurethane. The wood will be water proof and protected but there is a small gap between the lid and the bottom so water could get in if it is dunked. It would definitely float, at least for a little bit. Hopefully enough time to grab it before it floats away!

I but those out of another fly box that I have, Its really hard to find single rows like that, ive looked as well. They do make some with rows like that so that you can still see the wood behind them but they are like 10-12 dollar each!

I have to admit that I was a bit heartbroken that you went to the table saw when all your other work was with hand tools. The result is what matters and your box was superb.

At 5:11 there is a chance for introducing an error. You rotated the piece, putting a new edge against the fence. By flipping it end for end instead, you would have kept the same edge against the fence. The way you did it, if the edges are not parallel, your ends are going to be wonky. The other way, both ends will be parallel with respect to the registration edge.

i honestly don't think you can class this as a pallet wood project, normally pallet wood is pine..so staying in the limits of soft pine is the challenge not finding a custom made pallet with weathering and make something.

they were cut down about a year ago. I was able to get the wood and cut it into reasonable lengths and was going to use it for fire wood.
