Thank you so much to both Rockler and the Modern Maker Podcast for running this competition! I had such a good time taking part and the material constraints forced me to think really think creatively - utilising an asymmetric shelf layout and hollow door with a thin textured face!
For the project, I used 1 8x4ft 12mm birch plywood sheet with the only bits not being made out of plywood being the leather door pulls, hinges and shelf pegs!
If you have any questions about the project - how I did it, the design etc, please feel free to leave a comment below & as always your feedback good or bad is really appreciated! You’ve heard it all before but sharing, liking etc etc really helps me out too!
Music: Take Control - Remedi aka Magnum Opus & Sophie Asia - Running [Disclaimer: Full credit goes to the amazing artists linked, I do not own and have had no part in any of the production!]

Wow, honestly this is one of the greatest woodworking video I’ve ever watch!! I rarely post comment, but I can’t just go away after all the effort that you put on this video, the music the texts on the tape and the shot are incredible!! 😬

Inspiring video, editing and music. Love the fact that you don't have 784392936 different high-end tools like blue-bosch or Festool, and a fancypancy studio-workshop, but rather use whatever you can grasp with a limited budget - and let imagination and dedication do the rest. Thank you for sharing. This gave me hope to pursue making things again.

Thank you for watching, and definitely get out and make things again! You're bang on about tools - higher end ones improve the efficiency and accuracy as well as reducing frustration but thats not to say you have to have them to get something done. It might take longer or be more frustrating but so long as you've got a good idea you can make most of what you want to with a few basic tools!

What strikes me across all these videos is the authenticity. The program, narration, titles, camera work, pacing, and consideration for the audience. Would that every KZbin video was this good.

JMakes I hope you didn’t take my comment as a criticism, I didn’t mean it to come across that way. I can only tell you how I would have made the same box. If I were constrained to making something pop with only one sheet of ply, I would have done finger joints around every edge and used accenting stains to make them stand out. I also hate dowels and probably just would have used rabbits and dados. That said, it’s your design, not mine, and it was well executed. I look forward to seeing more in the future.

It can definitely be a challenge using job site saws etc - what with not having a square cut or having to have somebody support the sheet because of a small bed capacity! But you're right I think its important to show that you shouldn't use that as an excuse & you don't need a load of fancy tools to get things done! Thank you for watching & for the support!
