You've made a lovely knife. I tend to favor thinner blades when camping. Apart from the weight, when I camp near water, I like a flexible blade. Some years of experience taught me to carry shorter blades, they stow easier and are better for breaking down fish or small animals. I admire your skill at videographer and artisan.

You've mentioned in the comments that the first liquid you dip the blade into is ferric chloride. What is the next liquid you dip the blade into after the ferric chloride? My hunch is that it's a neutralizing liquid of some sort, but I don't know what kind. Thanks!

Thank you for watching. The liquid is simply water mixed with baking soda (sodium hydrogen carbonate). It is often used as a neutralizing agent for acidic liquids.

beautiful knife ! I love the striations on the wood, what type is it ? It takes an eye to see the item hiding in the metal and you not only saw but kept the elements (the hole in the tang)

If you need advice on fishing, thats what I do, small to large. Let me know if I can help! I make my own fishing rods and modify my reels too. I really like that knife, it is beautiful both form and function. Its a good camp knife but 65G steel can rust so maybe not so much fishing at the sea.

Yes, that's right. Knives used in the sea must be made of stainless steel that is resistant to corrosion. And fishing is really interesting.

@@forginghard I learned to fish in South Florida and moved to San Diego. Pacific fishing is different from the Atlantic, but you can use the same techniques. It can be quite relaxing.

*Hardness, glass is hard if a blade can scratch glass, it means it's harder than the glass which means the blade can hold a sharp edge for quite a long time. So the easier to be able to scratch the glass the harder the longer it holds the sharp edge..
