This is the best video of shading using the air brush on leather. Beautiful work. I have to ask is there anywhere I could find a skull with rose pattern . My grandson wants me to put one on a leather pick guard. Thanks I have subscribed

Hey Enrique thanks for the encouraging words. Unfortunately at this time I don’t have a pattern to sell, but you aren’t the first to ask… something I will consider in the future. Best of luck to you!

As a guitar player I would not only be happy but also honored to wear that as my strap! Absolutely beautiful handcrafted and full of passion.. I don't really know what to say about this other than amazing job! Just checked out the website, some amazing shit for sale over there! Once I got some money to spend I'll get myself a new handmade strap😎

This is truly amazing!! I am an artist myself that is trying to get into leatherworking, If you are ok answering this , what would you value something like this ? $300-$500 ?
@colladayleather2 жыл бұрын
Sorry for the delayed response, I just now saw this. Thanks for asking. A custom piece like this would range around 800.00 or so.

Wonderful belt! Please tell me a bit about your paint technic. Do you use antique pasta immediately after you colored or you put some finish before antique?
@colladayleather3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for your feedback! Yes, I use the antique paste but only after I dye, paint, and seal the finished tooling. I find that the antique paste helps to make the image pop a bit more. Thanks for asking! Best of luck

You're right, it's a masterpiece! I love the way you use the aerograph, such a natural look! I have recently uploaded a guitar strap making of video, I hope you'll take some time to watch it! Enjoy leather crafting dude! You have a fan from Italy! 😊🇮🇹🍕

Phenomenal! I'm in complete awe by the job you did on this. I'm a beginner and wonder how you price pieces like this. I've had people tell me to just use my own artistic judgement and I consider these skills valuable. Still, there's just so much you can charge unless you're doing custom work for a famous musician, even though hours and days can be spent.
@colladayleather3 жыл бұрын
Hey Robert, thanks for the encouraging feedback - it's much appreciated. I hope you continue the leather carving tradition, we all get better with time. I agree it's difficult to say what something is worth, especially when you're trying to value what you put into creating the artwork. There are a lot of opinions out there about how to charge for handmade work and art. I tend to charge an hourly wage plus materials and a profit margin to keep the business going. I'm still learning how to do this, and to be honest, I often tend to cut myself short. But I think that comes with time and reputation. I'm no Cary Schwarz, Bob Park or Peter Main, but perhaps some day I may be in their league. Carve on my friend!!

i kept pausing the video to look at the detailing work and catching some tips lol. ive started with my second tooled leather work. just got my first swivel knife finally! i was thinking of doing some "painting" with the airbrush aswell now that we got one. i just dont know what that stuff is you used to stain the leather with the dobber closer to the end of the video. ive seen many using it but it dont know what it is. great job though geez. that is some hectic details you put in this ! well done!
@colladayleather3 жыл бұрын
Thanks man!! I use Fiebings antique paste. It fills in the smaller cuts and line work. It makes the image pop a bit more. Thanks for watching and commenting and keep pursuing the leather trade!

This looks great, but the video was going far too fast for me. Not only could I not really see what you were doing, because the video was going so fast, but the motion was sped up so much that watching it was making me nauseous. I would've liked to see it done at a much slower speed.
