Hey Nick, awesome work :) I've been doing similar things but with copper, I'd love the do it the right way though. How do you get rid of tool marks and polish up the chain at the end? I'd love to work with precious metals.
@Nickscreativestuff
@Nickscreativestuff 2 жыл бұрын
thanks for that Redstoner, I start with the coarsest option on the worst marks and then work down. fine file, buff stick, silicon abrasives on a flex shaft and then finally a barrel polisher for chains works exceptionally well. Definitely have a go with sterling silver, very similar to working with copper … if you can silver solder copper you’ll have no problem working with silver … cheers … Nick

I always love your videos and this silver chain necklace is fabulous, but the only thing I noticed that I would change is that clasp… this looks like a really good sturdy, strong necklace and that clasp is not going to hold up at all. I don’t know if that’s all you had at the time of the video, but I would make a nice toggle clasp or some type of an S clasp. But those small spring clasp just really won’t work. And the only reason why I’m saying this is if someone who is kinda new to making jewelry And then they just see that type of clasp that you have used, because you are such a great jewelry designer that comes up with the fabulous ideas they’re gonna trust in you that that clasp will hold up…. Just saying…. I love the silver chain❤❤❤❤❤❤

thanks for expressing your opinion autumn. Being a happy have a go hobbyist I’ve never heard of people having a problem with these expensive sterling silver lobster clasps. I suppose I use them because they are quick easy and what I thought reliable to use. it’s good to hear peoples feedback otherwise I would never learn of such issues. I will endeavour to start to make my own clasps for future videos and not to use these commercially manufactured ones … I appreciate your encouragement … cheers … Nick

Hey, what material do you use to weld the small rings, is it the same material as the chain?? And what kind of burner do you use to reach such high temperatures with such a small flame?
@Nickscreativestuff
@Nickscreativestuff Ай бұрын
Hi Senad, silver solder comes in many forms and melts at a high temperature a bit like braising, being very similar to silver the finished joint blends in well. A small handheld refillable butane torch is perfect for most soldering jobs as it easily reaches the temperatures of 750*c needed to melt silver solder. I mostly use silver solder paste that is a mix of finally ground traditional solder, binders and flux to produce a product thats sticky, easy and convenient to use … N
