I cant believe this is an expensive kit you can buy!! I totally thought this was just another of Katelyns amazing but very cursed ideas 😂😅
@lulalelilo Жыл бұрын
Hello, french here (ya the lovely country where we produce camembert and finest of the finest charcuterie) : this kit is SUPER MEGA EXPENSIVE. Realistically, you can build all that stuff on DIY for less than 30 euros (cheese/sausage/bread/cheese cream)... But it is DAMN good. Tbh in France we don't build that kind of stuff on holidays, we already eat daily bread/sausage/cheese etc :P

Tip for filling piping bags more easily: grab a drinking cup, put the bag inside it tip down, and pull the top of the bag open and over the edge of cup. It will hold it open for you so you can use both hands to fill.

The "triangle crisp bread" is also a Swedish thing (knäckebröd) which is traditionally part of the buffet we have on Christmas Eve (we celebrate on the 24th), so it does sort of fit the Christmas theme I suppose. XD The houses really turned out so much nicer than expected! Still prefer a gingerbread one though as I'm not too big on most charkuteries. Although, I could consider a more "fresh" version with fruits, cheeses and cold cuts with different crackers, but that would definitely need to be eaten immediately! lol Btw the PB/salami combo made me think of gingerbread cookies (made with cinnamon, cloves, ginger and bitter orange rinds) paired with blue cheese being a big thing here. I can't really stand blue cheese, but I can recommend trying gingerbread with butter and gouda (or a similar mild hard cheese) as well. Pretty tasty!

To help with putting the cheese (or anything) in a piping bag, put the bag in a wine glass and pull it over the edges. That way you can put it towards the tip of the bag and not waste so much cheese on the sides.

A piping bag tip for next time: There's tons of tricks out there for how to fill a bag neatly. Some people use plastic wrap, which is great if you need a lot of piping bags filled. But for small projects, putting the piping bag in a cup and folding the top edge down around the cup will let you access the bottom of the bag cleanly to fill it, rather than trying to squish material down and making a mess of it. The cup holds the bag open and keeps those top edges away from the filling process. It's faster and way less messy.
