To have a sluice hold back good water you check the bottom one that says close below contamination and you slide it to zero then it will hold back good water

Yeah another way to think about it is do you want the sluice to open when you touch bad water or do u want to open when you touch good water? Then then 3rd thing is elevation control open when downstream is under x level.

@@MrStoneIV_ For the back gate: You want it be a wall when you need to collect water. And you want it to be a open channel when you want the bad water to flow out. Then for your main gate you want it to be a wall when you have too much water in your farm reservoir. You need it to be a wall against bad water. And you need it to be open when you need water.
