Use Potters clay. Get it form a potter. This will be far cheaper than y2 clay and you can resell it once you are done.

Thanks bro. You would be right under normal circumstances. But Pedly (editor) is prejudice and for this reason I will not be having anything to do with NZPC. Not my choice but his. Besides I would be keen to keep this car on the down low here in NZ. It is a lot more fun riding in a fresh car that no one knows anything about, than being a "has been" a year after being in NZPC.

You just about got it right. Don't let the clay go hard. It will crack and go out of shape. Once you have done your clay design put a layer of tin foil over it and then put your fiberglass over that. Yes you can then detach it from the bumper. You will have to do this to remove the clay and add strengthening layers to the back side of it. Watch my video called "how to make a body panel from scratch" Copy the process I explain in that video :)

I've went through most of your videos and can't seem to find where you got your fiberglass or carbon fibre from. Mind telling me?

Hi there, all your videos are simply fantastic! I just stumble upon these movies and God is my witness - you have saved me a lot of work. I am just about to start work on fiat barchetta to make it look like one of the fiat prototypes - potters clay is my solution then!!! Man... countless nights of thinking for nothing, solution is just there. I am astonished how you did these jobs, will try myslef as well. I dont know exactly how to send PM on youtube but would have one question if you dont mind - how long do I have until the clay is dry so I cannot shape it easily and smooth? Lets say layer of 10cm on a side of the vehicle. I would apreciate the answer. Best of luck with your projects. Ian

Wow that sounds like an exiting project! I hope you upload some video as you do it. Don't let your clay dry out at all. While working on you project have a squirt bottle handy and spray your work from time to time. When you have finished for the day cover the clay in food wrap. This will keep the clay moist and fresh for days on end. Because the clay is wet you then need to cover it in tin foil and then packaging tape before you put down a layer of glass. My other video show this well. Have a look a my roof video that is more than an hour long. This will show you the whole process in detail.

What do u use to make both side perfectly even? Are u just using cardboard templates?
@S1KRYD
@S1KRYD 10 жыл бұрын
Yes. The process is complex but to put it simply, the templates you refer to are fiberglass templates. Lasers and a makeshift chassis measuring system and a Gantry are also used to get it perfectly symmetrical. I could make a whole 1 hour video on this process but I don't think it is worth the effort.
