This is a video about the making of a cookbook stand as a gift for my daughter. I had to revise the design after I gave it to her at Christmas because it wasn't as stable as I would have liked. It was made from oak that I reclaimed from some old discarded furniture.

Great project Dave. your design on the back is outstanding. I hate brass hinges. I make my own when I can. BTY, I have the same small miter saw and guide. it is awesome :>) keep them coming

Thanks so much, Russ! I love the Zona miter box and saw. For about 30 bucks at Woodcraft, my fingers feel a lot safer when cutting small pieces.

Very nice build and love the new idea of the bracket at the back, using the brass rod looks better as well. I was wondering if a small piece of velcro in different places, would be better to hold the ribbon at the back, incase it comes loose over usage and time? Still a great build though, so well done. Thanks, Barry! Velcro would be an option. I'm hoping to get by with the ribbon and keep the thickness of the leg down so it hangs on the wall nicely. If it fails in the future I'm sure my wife and daughter will let me know (they both have one) and I'll have to redesign it again. :)

This is a really fine gift for any modern Chef or Lady Chef. You did a great job explaining step by step. Are you planning to publish the lay out or plan for your audience. Thanks much!

Thanks, Braulio. I don't have any plans drawn at the moment. I'm looking into how best to draw them up and post them.

Dave, from a few brief, partial shots, I think you have the same model of tablesaw as I do: an old Delta 10", and I don't even remember when I bought it. Could it be all the way back in the 70s? Mine's still in fine shape; I even built a solid, wheeled wooden stand for it last summer, and making it rollable was one of the best ideas I ever had. I'd send you a picture, but I don't know how. I notice that yours has a real nice, solid- and accurate-looking fence, with a nice visible ruler. Can you tell me what kind it is and if you think it's worth getting it? Did you have to pull the tubes on the front and back of the table, used by the factory fence to mount this one? Any info you can offer is appreciated! Best, Tim

Hi. I love this cookbook stand. Any chance one of your videos could show how to make a functional (not decorative) noodle board? I’d like to use it to knead bread or for making/drying homemade pasta. Thank you. (FYI, I saw one Gail Sovie made, gorgeous. But never heard of one, so had to google it. I need a bare-bones one to actually use, not as decor.)

No practical reason. It's a quick and easy way to add a decorative element.
