Thank you for sharing this build. I just completed (2) of these for Christmas presents. I changed up the dimensions a little. 1: I cut the drink holder at 10" instead of 9", as all I had was a 4 1/2" hole saw,. The side benefit was the hole is big enough for a can coozie to fit. I cut the stem piece at 31 1/4", I wanted a little extra room for the numbers. If I do another I think I might go 34' so a person doesn't have to reach so low for those beginning numbers. OK, I am old and fat and these days I think bending over to tie shoes should be an athletic event.' lol. If anybody is interested, I found 1 1/8" spacing for the holes worked out well. Thanks again Sawdust and Slivers for sharing

These are awesome well done. What did you use for the numbers?

Thank you! The numbers are self adhesive vinyl, I had my wife cut them out on her cricket.

Thanks, and I clearly overlooked the obvious, lol. If you centered the 3" post on a 14" piece and cut out a 3" square that leaves 11" out of that 14" and divided by 2 means the short cut is the 5 1/2 lol. I can't believe I didn't think of that, lol. I cut all the pieces and didn't have time to do any more and was trying to think how it was done. Guess maybe had put it to hands-on. I could have gotten it, but I do appreciate your help. One last thing, I know how to center the holes, but what is the diameter of the holes because even if I use your dimensions up and over, it's centered but I like the distance I see between the holes on yours. I need a hole saw because I don't have that gizmo you have. I pretty much have every tool imaginable just never saw one of them. Thanks again

I do a 3" hole. That way it fits both a can or a solo cup. If just doing can you could go with 2-3/4". I got the drill for cutting the hole from amazon, if you type "heavy duty circle cutter", it should be the first item that pops up. It has certainly been useful quite a few times, but you have to keep the cutter head very sharp or it quickly builds up heat. Also need a pretty heavy duty drill press to run it. It's easily adjustable to cut up to almost an 8 inch hole, but I wouldn't recommend pushing it to that size. I've cut 6 inch holes with but that's about as big as I would go with it if you decide to get one.

The angle on the vertical post is 3° I see. However my question would be if you were to measure from the side down with the angle, how far up on the side, and how far at the bottom towards the center? Then the angle for the base piece, what's that? Or what's the measurement for the long point at the bottom and the short point for the top that would give the best angle. I'm an advanced woodworker and can figure it out messing around, but you make them all the time, so I figured I'd just ask. I made a set of Wisconsin Badger boards and very unique, and these will go great with it. Thanks

Unfortunately my approach when making them is fairly untechnical. Since the post is 3" wide I know that the widest part of the mouth for the base has also be 3 inches. That makes my short dimension length of the base angle part to be 5 1/2". I mark that and set my table saw miter gauge to 3 degrees and make the cut (on 4 pieces 3/4" thick, setting a stop block to ensure consistent length). This could also be done on a decent miter saw but short stock and miters saw can get sketchy. That cut piece can be used before the glue up to scribe a line on the post by lining up to the end the post (the end needs to be cut a a clean 90 degrees for this to be effective). This way even if you missed 3 degrees by a little bit the angles will still match. After the base has been glued I make the cut on the post, staying just outside the line. Then lastly I fine tune the fit by sanding to post on a belt sander. Hopefully that explains the mess of how my brain works, lol Thank you for inquiring, I should have detailed that part more in the video.

How do you keep score on the post? Do you insert a tooth pick or small wooden dowel?

With a golf tee used as a peg.

I like it but it seems a bit short as far as having to bend down to move the pegs. However I'm afraid it may be tippy if it's much higher

Agreed. Some cornhole makers have incorporated a scoreboard into the board set, which requires bending way down. I tried to get it a bit higher but still provide some stability while keep its size down as not to make it cumbersome. Thanks for the comment!

Ok thanks, I'll just pick up a hole saw, don't think I have that size. For 2" and down I love my forstner bits and for big holes I have a Compas for my plunge router Thanks again

So my stand is pretty much complete but i lost the message where you told me the hole size for the drink holder. We will use cans or bottles
@sawdustandslivers4102
@sawdustandslivers4102 6 ай бұрын
I do a 3" hole. You could go with as small as 2 3/4" if using only cans and bottles but I wouldn't go any smaller than that.

There's also a couple measurements missing In your drawing regarding the base
@sawdustandslivers4102
@sawdustandslivers4102 6 ай бұрын
That was just a quick sketch I did for the general measurements I used. I apologize it wasn't more comprehensive. For the base material all of my wood was planed to 3/4". I cut 6 parts to 3" by 14". 4 of these make up the 2 side walls of the base and the 2 lateral supports. The other 2 will make up the center segments of the base that will have the 3 degree angle on them. The short measurement on the angled board (which is the top of the angle to the outside edge) would be 5 1/2" in length. If that makes any sense.

Would you sell and ship these?

Thank you, I have made a few extras and sold them locally but I have never checked into how much or how I might package them them for shipping. It could be somewhat cost prohibitive to ship but it might be possible depending on expense.
