hi!! i just discovered your channel and ive really been wanting to get into making custom dolls like these :) what paint do you use? is it acrylic thinned down? it seems so opaque when you do it! love ur videos btw ☺️

aw thank you so much!! i just the cheap (mostly apple barrel) acrylic paint and then i water it down yeah! i do about 4-5 layers just depending on the coverage & the base doll

yes!! if you dont water it down it will be wayyy too thick so watering it down is essential for me. it still has to be opaque and have some coverage tho so i only water it down a little!

What is the name of the metal thing you use to put the hair in?

it's a rerooting tool! they can be bought off of etsy & its basically an e-xacto knife base with a "rerooting" needle in the top (a sewing needle cut in half almost!) i hope that makes sense!

I noticed you use some pastel for the cheeks. How did you seal it? Did you use Mr Super Clean for that? And I know you use some matte varnish for the paint. Can you actually use matte varnish for pastels or not?

yeah i used mr super clear to seal in between layers! i havent tried using anything else but im sure using either matte varnish or watered down matte mod-podge would work; msc just gives the doll a paperlike texture so your materials stick to it if that makes sense!

What pencils do you use??

my colored pencils are faber castell! i dont use them too often anymore since i use paint mostly but they work great. most people recommend the watercolor version though!
