10:29. For future reference, guys, don't ever use a cutoff wheel to cut aluminum you're welding. Bits and pieces of the wheel will impregnate into the aliminum and cause leak points. All those black little specs in the weld just above that throttle body plate is a perfect example of contamination of the weld from that cut off wheel. Just use the cut off wheel to cut down the section you want to cut off the larger piece of aluminum sheet, then use the band saw to do the final cut. You'll thank me on future builds.

Watched 3 in a row. So engaging and love how you worked thru issues. I know at this point you got the V10 to run, but how well in the design was reverberation and air turmoil within the intake box to insure even air flow from the front cylinder to the last rear cylinders? Love to see the engine dyno tested. Well off to bed. 😴

I think just DA sand it down to a nice smooth finish, then use scotch brite to grain it front-back. Best case you could have it anodized clear or even black or gold or something neat. I'm not a huge fan of the coarse grinder finish though, it should be smoother than that.

We didn’t want to risk cylinder air starvation due to the even firing order of this motor. Tuning out intake reversion is a huge undertaking, requiring flow analysis of the intake and heads. Would be a cool project for a future version of the intake for sure, but way beyond the scope of this build at this time. Most even fire V10 engines we benchmarked have dual plenums, so we are sure this is a solid direction.

I love it but why the split chambers and not some openings to even pressure?
@biy_buildityourself
@biy_buildityourself Жыл бұрын
Good question, for an even fire v10, there is always an opposite cylinder firing from one bank to the other. Keeping the chambers separate eliminates the risk of starving one of the sides. We referenced other even fire V10 engines like Lamborghini.

@diytutorialsandmore9804
@diytutorialsandmore9804 Жыл бұрын
I also think the divider is probably not the best idea some kind of balance hole should cut one thing to remember is resonances in there plenum can help almost act as boost at certain rpm’s so having no divider would be beneficial just my 2c

For air flow would the throttle bodies flow better opening with the shafts vertically? So that the air would flow straight back instead of hitting the devider?
@biy_buildityourself
@biy_buildityourself Жыл бұрын
If they were vertical, one motor would have to point up and one down so the blades open the same way. But im not sure that would help with air not hitting the divider.
