Making a diamond ring

I had abit of time this week to make something, so I took some of the gold I had left over, a .40ct diamond and a few Sapphire and went to town. I hope you enjoy watching the crafting process

Allilujah, I really appreciate your passion and tenacity. I’ve been a lapidary, silversmith, jeweler, and gemologist for over 50 years now. I began like you, with a desire to become the best that I could be. I opened my own store at the age of 15, sold it and subsequently went to work for the Zales Jewelry Corporation and the with a guild store in Louisiana. Now at 64 I’ve decided to add a number of other capabilities to my work. I am so excited to see you collecting tools, learning techniques ( learning skills on KZbin) and look forward to your videos and your gradual improvement in skills and broadening of personal knowledge. If I could offer a couple of suggestions as you move forward. 1) Practice each skill (cutting, filing, soldering, sanding, polishing, graver use and engraving technique) individually and daily. 2) Focus on doing each separate part, perfectly before you move to the next process. 3) Try not to rush - the best jeweler is not the fastest or even the most skilled - he/she is usually the one who cares the most about quality pieces of wearable art. Though you become a craftsman over time, you are an artist already. Keep up the good work my friend and may God bless and prosper you. David
