Great video. When I was 13 I had bought a cheap call from Walmart and I would call quail in like turkey. I'd sit on a fire road behind my parents house and tag a couple with a BB gun. It was amazing to learn their different calls and mimic the babies so the male thinks he's lost some. He will come running in looking for his young.

I had no idea you could call them in! I’ve simply used it as a locator

Nice job. I can't seem to find anyone calling in Bob Whites. I miss CA quail hunting.

I haven’t called any in but it’s helpful to find if they’re in the neighborhood. I’d love to expand my quail quest at some point

This is super cool, I'm still having issues on how you "tuned" it. Also, would there be a way you can take pictures of the final product?
@JonHoan2 жыл бұрын
Thanks Luis! I tuned by by either stretching the rubber band more, then clamping down to keep that tightness on it. The tighter the rubber band, the higher the pitch. The more slack the band, the lower the pitch. I basically found what sounded right to me and tightened it down to fix it in place

Why don’t you have pointers? They’re super quiet.

I’ve never hunted behind dogs. Would love to try. We’ve always adopted our dogs and they skew older and gun shy. Would love to adopt one that isn’t
