My mother took me to a leather craft class many many years ago. My brother and I received belts from santa claus that year..... Over the years her tools have found the black hole of lost goods. Watching these videos has brought back those good memories, the smell of damp leather, the thump of the hammer as it strikes the stamps, sitting at the vise and using files to shape nail heads into new leather stamps ..... Now that my wife and I are raising our grandchildren winning this kit would allow us to share the experience of leather crafting with them and see if they too find it as enjoyable as I did. Thank you

I've started researching about leathercraft for about 3months now. I'm very meticulous when it comes to my minimalist wallets and camera straps so I thought why not make my own? So I started watching videos on youtube on how to make my own, and good thing that I've learned from you first. It's not the tools that makes the best wallet but the passion of the crafter that made every stitch and every cut special.

I actually repurposed many of the tools I was lucky enough to already own. Like fine clock maker files to rough up the nice surface of the leather. Or metal scribers that work just as well on leather. Or the wing deviders that are used to mark metal as well. Basically if you're a mechanic or own a good toolbox you have half the tools you need already

Hey! For years I have been considering trying leather work, but life and other priorities got in the way. I really enjoy working with my hands a crafting things. Im a newly graduated nurse and currently my life is all work, especially with the current situation. I'm often so exhausted after work that its hard to do anything but go home, eat dinner, watch Netflix/KZbin and pass out. I would love to have a skill/craft that is fun, simple and that I can do at home, to pull me away from the stress of work and even technology.

The competition is probably over, but I'm 31, and for my 30th birthday, my uncle gave me a leather key holder that may grandfather made many years before I was born. When I was about 5 or 6, my grandfather got very sick, and for the next 10 to 12 years after that he was immobile and in and out of hospitals with dementia. After getting the leather key holder, the smell of hand crafted leather flooded back all of these memories of him making bags, belts, and me watching him. I guess I'm wanting to get into leather work to remember the good times I had with him.

I am 63 and have been crafting for years. Started doing some leather work a few years ago, I use a ruler and fine pen to mark my holes and drill them with my drill press then hand stitch. I started leather crafting for about 2 weeks ago, because i got bored in quarantine and because i was always interested in leather and leather crafting, i picked it as a hobby and i love it. I have bought some basic stuff, but i still do not have many tools that i feel is essential, and since everywhere is closed right now, i can't go and bye them, so i think this kit could help me to complete and upgrade my tools.
@AGL12054 жыл бұрын
I will say for me it has been a trial and error for almost two years since I started leather craft. There are tools I purchased that I honestly realized I didn’t need and some tools I still use that are entry level tools. I’d say the most expensive part out of all of this is actually the leather itself, however there are plenty of sites that allow you to purchase by the sq ft. Another thing not mentioned here is the designing of your pieces. Unless you plan to hand draw everything, which is totally fine, it’s much better to have software like illustrator to make your designs and save them and mass produce if you decide to to. My overall experience has been great, it really is just making the time and having the patience. Your craft will only get better with time.

Loved this tutorial about starting leatherworking with this inexpensive kit. I noticed how frustrated you got when working with that dull knife. You could sharpen it. I just started leather craft maybe two and half months go. I was at a flea market and came across groveleathergoods and just was amazed and it sparked me with I can make that. That brought me to KZbin and your channel. I started out with vintage leather for the antique mall. My tools were X-acto knife, a fork, a nail and a little screw drive kit to punch the holes. I got lucky and found some more vintage leather but it’s be needing some help with getting it moisture back and cutting is pretty rough. I have now upgraded to one 4mm 6 prong stitch puncher along with a wood slicker. All of my wallets have been rugged looking and I would you the tools to make them more classier looking. My goal is for this to become a hobby that I can sell for inexpensive to people that just buy for the handmade product.

His birthday is coming up soon and I want to be able to do something for him even though I cannot really go out during this time.

It is good to develop skills with minimal, low quality tools. If you like leatherwork then, you will love it with each high quality item you purchase. I made my first leather project in 1974 and used woodworking tools to do it. I do it as a hobby and only sell items at cost to friends. That supports my leather addiction and keeps the cost to a minimum. I do not want the tools but good luck and happy crafting to the lucky winner.

Hello! I have never done leather craft before in my life, but this video is inspiring me. I go on two to three service trips every year with both my church and my school. Most often we go to third world countries (Mexico, Philippines, Columbia etc.) and build houses or water supply lines. These trips often cost upwards of $2,000 each, and most often I’m left to come up with that cash on my own. I’ve gotten really good at coming up with fundraising ideas, but I’m always looking for sustainable, cheap projects that provide actual value to the people who donate to me. This video has shown me how simple and affordable it is to create a high quality product that I think a lot of my friends would enjoy. I would hope to take this kit and master this specific wallet and then hopefully move on to more complex designs like bags and laptop folders. :) thanks for doing this btw it’s really cool of you to support your subscribers and people who are just starting out in leather craft.

So, several pieces were in their raw state. I already had some varnish for wood, so I’m just putting several layers of varnish on them, so things like the burnisher are SUPER smooth!

Hey man! I've never tried leather crafting before, but was just telling my wife the other day that I wanted to make a leather mouse pad and business card holder. I explained that I've been intrigued by leather crafting and that now would be a great time to try. I was trying to find a good entry level kit like this. Stay safe!

I haven’t done any leather craft yet but I want to make a case for the tablet I just got. Watching your videos has really inspired me. Beautiful work!

I just got into leather crafting around a month ago and Ive been enjoying it so for I’ve made a few wallets but they haven’t be very good. I don’t have many tools I’m using a fork a nail and a steel hammer to punch holes and it’s just not going as clean as I’d like. I think this kit would help me out making it easier to do. Would like to make my own line of wallets and belts and shoulder bags. Thanks for the awesome videos and stay safe in these dark time. Much love!!!

Very nice work! I recently just developed an interest in leather craft when I bought a leather notebook. I was frustrated with not having a place to store my fountain pen with the notebook and was looking all around on the internet to find a solution. I saw a really clever pen holder design and thought “you know what I could do this myself and get exactly what I want.” I also would like to make some nice items like the flap wallet you showed here for my kids so they can have something nice that was made with love. Great video and keep up the great work!

Thanks for your videos! I tried some leather crafting 15 years ago with a friend and their tools. I never got my own tools but seeing how accessible it can be, I want to try it now! I want to make some Christmas and wedding presents!

I've been doing Leather Craft as a hobby for less than a year, with the bare minimum. I am extremely proud the products I have made so far and I use them every day. I would love the opportunity to use this kit to expand on some of the tools I already have and add some new ones along the way. I am still a beginner at this, but I want to see where it takes me.

Working with your hands are important. I'd like to throw my name in the hat for the win so that my daughter can experience the joy of leather work. She's so close to going diving into a craft. Her KZbin channel is full of crafty stuff.

I’ve been thinking about trying leather crafting. I’m a hobby woodworker and have dabbled in and will restart my interest in blacksmithing. Getting my hands on this starting kit sure would be another fun thing to do.

I got started with this or a very similar kit. Got it for 2019 Christmas, and took a trip to the nearest tandy to get some leather and liquids to start crafting. I've been playing around making my own patterns since January 2020.

I am a maker...woodworking is my specialty. However, my wife and I moved and I lost my dedicated workshop. I am now relegated to the kitchen table and all my woodworking tools have been sold or are in storage. I have been watching all your videos and think that leatherwork would be a great way to keep my creative juices flowing in a small space. I really would love to give it a try but hesitant to buy all the tools until I know I can do something with them. Thank you for considering me in the contest and please...keep up the great video content.

I've been crafting for over 20 years since I was a kid but mostly by making detailed greeting cards that can slide, pop out, flip and of all sorts for friends and family. I've been looking around for a very long time to find a way to get these skills that I enjoy so much to make more people happy and make some money at the same time. Recently, I found your KZbin page and I have been so inspired by your work that I am planning to dive into this leather-crafting world. Been looking around for some basic tools to give it a try, then I stumbled upon this video. I really hope I could win the kit so I can start this newly-found hobby and hopefully career. You won't be disappointed. Thank you so much for the inspiration.

Hi! I'm a young Italian videomaker and photographer, i've been into leather making a lot in the last months and i would like to try it out my self. I'm moving to Australia with my wife in search of a change and i feel like leather making could be a new hobby and maybe more. Just like you i feel the need to change from my actual photo and video job and this could be the key moment for that change! Hope to win the kit! Keep up with your work, your videos are all beautiful.
