I watched your tire video and saw you went with the 120 90 18 rear tire. If you feel the bike is more sluggish leaning into a turn try a more skinny tire next time. I went with the same tire and noticed a huge sluggish feeling in comparison to the stock 100 100 18. I ride the KLX230 so it's a smaller bike and not apples to apples but just something to consider

It felt a little bit more sluggish on the road but off road no difference for me. When I added the 13T sprocket the sluggish feeling went away.

Looks nice. Lots of Keyboard Bro's in here. If u bought a Euro bike for twice the price you all do tires, sprockets and bars anway. And the KTM/Beta's are not "dual sports". They are buzzy and uncomfortable on the road and if u actually ride them they need a rebuild every 2 years or 5k miles. Save some money for all the breakdowns also.

Have you thought of going up in teeth on the rear sprocket now? There’s also the limiter paddle on the throttle body that can boost torque at low rpm. It seems to do wonders for people!
@atlklx5168

I don’t think it’s worth it to go any lower for gearing for where I ride since the torque is really nice and I can still hit freeway speeds if needed. I’ve heard about the throttle body mod I need to check that out. Thanks for watching!

Looks like you ride a lot of loose soil, that D Sport from Tusk is a nice choice there. I shredded mine doing donuts on gravel just to be done with it. I'm riding rocky trails in the Ozarks and it's a bit too hard for my liking. The nice thing about rear tires is that we go through soo many that we get to try them all 😆

Yes it is very hard and that’s my least favorite thing but it does at least feel solid on the street with those big stiff knobs. I’ll probably go with something softer after this wears out.

No suspension mods? That and de-smogging are some of the best mods for improving a stock dual sport bike’s off road performance. Protection, tires and bars are good too.

I'm picking up my 2024 KLX 300 tomorrow. I really like the MZS levers (I have them on my KLR 650). However Amazon says they won't fit my bike. So I looked up OEM part #'s for a 22 vs 24 KLX 300 and the part #'s are different. Now I'm bummed and will have to search for some that compare to MZS levers. Any idea of another brand?

Hey...I was curious. What kind of motorcycle insurance do you have for your KLX 300...full coverage or liability?
@atlklx5168
@atlklx5168 4 ай бұрын
I have liability because I owned the bike, and if it was totaled entirely, I could cover the cost just not replace it. My main purpose was to ride off road so if I was using it as a commuter, I would have gotten more coverage. But this bike is tough and when I dropped it then I was fine picking it up and riding home; no claims necessary. A road bike would also be a different story.

Did install of handlebar and adapters require a longer clutch cable?
@atlklx5168
@atlklx5168 Жыл бұрын
Man it would have been nice but honestly I made it work. I undid the clutch cable and took it out of one of the little guides. It still has the guide going down the frame but doesn’t wrap around the front of the forks anymore. When I did the install the clutch cable was too tight at full lock turning left. I rode with it and it was fine but I didn’t like it so I re-routed and now it’s no issue.
@kevinankin
@kevinankin Жыл бұрын
Thanks. I know it’s only $20 for a new cable but lots more effort. I’m currently using Rental 7/8” and find too much vibration and thinking 1 1/8” would be better.

@@kevinankin if you get a little bit less bend in your bar it would probably be fine. Mine was doable but I just felt weird about it. Like a KX normal or a non-“high” bend bar would likely be fine. Try the tusk chub bar it has good reviews and the ktm bend doesn’t require a clutch cable change to my knowledge. Refer to KC outside KZbin channel that’s where I get my info. He’s great.

Not any time soon although it would be nice to have a better sound. I’ve actually gotten compliments on the trails for how quiet it is. A lot of guys were saying they wish their bike was that quiet so they could cruise in places without drawing any attention.

@@atlklx5168 Try opening up the baffles a little at a time until you like the tone? Aftermarket exhaust is lighter but without baffles they are pretty loud. With baffles they don't flow much better than stock mufflers. A properly designed full exhaust will flow much better than stock. Study up on pressure waves, scavenging, anti-reversion, pressure wave collapse chamber (David Vizard has excellent information on it) and a quiet, yet still free flowing muffler before dropping cash on a name brand glass pack muffler/exhaust system.

I put some washers between the fender and the rear 2 mounting points to adjust the angle of it slightly. If you put it on as is then it will hit the downtube (frame piece right in front of the motor). I think I did little bit of heating and shaping but it didn’t require special tools. It took like 2-3 minutes of work so it was way worth it and the fender is cheap.

Bottom line- if you get any of these mods he described, get the sprocket- it's the single best mod you can do to this bike bar none. The other stuff is fluff and a waste for a dual sport. This dude should've bought a "real" dual sport/enduro bike for the money he spent on his. It looks nice, but it still has essentially no power for real off road stuff. Great street bike, but those tires he installed won't work well on road. The front fender I will say is a great addition.
