A tip for fitting the back: when I make a mock up, I make a opening in the front and sew the back seam. When I try to on, I pin the center opening - it's easier to do on my own and I can see how the back lays closed and modify it

I tend to cut out the pattern on the biggest size, then fold down to the size I need. It's what my Nanna always did too, so you can always size up without the extra faff of tracing.

You look like a fairy princess. It's a pretty dress that looks good in pictures, I ask nothing more If I didn't have the urge to go frolicking through the woods I do now (but I don't live anywhere near any forest like area), so li do it through you 👍🏼. I also have all my patterns cut out, but I leave all the sizes and just fold when tracing my size. 👑

Lol as long as they aren’t super cheap-o curtains, they’re probably fine! I use thrifted linens all the time without any problems; these were an exception

Awe, I’m sorry it’s ripping to shreds. It’s SO pretty though!! I think maybe the fabric lost its integrity in a Sunny window for years. I had some curtain lining I used , just basically disintegrate in the wash. The fabric I used was not meant for curtains and did not stand up to all the direct sunlight. I would suspect something similar with this 😩 Just give any other curtains you thrift a few good pulls to make sure maybe. Doesn’t help with this, I know 😩 sorry. It’s a great teaching/lesson/reminder though for everyone. Some sheets will do this too, if they are just too worn or have a kind of dry rot thing going on. I hope it doesn’t discourage you at all. Yeah they must’ve been old in addition to being cheap haha… I’ve used plenty of delicate fabrics before with moderate success, so these were truly their own special case 🤣

Oh goodness this is gorgeous! I know the pain of a pretty fabric that just shreds when you look at it wrong. X_X And from the way the sleeves tore, definitely looks like there was too much strain on the armscyes. Enlarging them or adding a little sleeve godet would help, and is the period way of doin' it if you're so inclined. Oh I adore the scallops on the sleeves though, and the overskirt is just gorgeous!!
