Making a Game in a Game... in a Game

Floating Outskirts is a game by Yoried, made entirely inside Geometry Dash. In this video, I mod Floating Outskirts inside the same editor to make my level "Jamskirts". This was a really cool project and I'm super proud with the final result :) I'm also really proud of this video. This is def my best video to date so I hope you enjoy it!

The strongest aspect of all your levels is the “immersion” that ties the gameplay to the world. And you do it SO WELL. Especially all the fun easter eggs you put up everywhere. Not many creators put a big focus on immersion, so I’m glad you do, and enjoy doing it.

Jam, I'm now learning how to decorate levels and I'm using your level as a model for inspiration (glorious fortress) and it really amazes me how you can lay it out beautifully, then choose nice objects and then use them correctly. (you probably won't think of it on the first try) But it's still incredible to me how you do it. Jam, you are a really great creator for GD. Respect for you.

make sure you have good structuring, you should make your block design easy to decorate by breaking it up into nice appealing shapes. learning graphic design principles will help a lot
