As someone who spends 50% of their free time skating, and 50% of their free time dicking around with cars, this is really cool. Very, very neat. I may have to try and find a project car to use one of these in. They look fantastic man!

I love repurposing old used things. This is great! I bet they would make a beautiful bowl, or vase as well. 🥰👍

Nice! I wanted a white knob so made one out of a Nissan wheelnut (Lug Nut?) a cupboard door knob and construction adhesive. worked great! When I saw the one in the Diresta video I thought it was made out of "Detroit Agate", didn't think to use plywood for something like this, will have to give it a go.

Awesome! Have you ever made one for a '13-16 Ford Focus ST? They have the pull-up reverse system, so I didn't know if that's something you've done before.
@builtbybasil85157 жыл бұрын
Casey Hardman There is a adaptor that can be made to work but it won't look very good. I will find a link for it later and send it to you. I am looking into making one that can work. I will keep you posted

Really nice gear knobs! Just one thought though - wouldn't it be easier to drill the final hole and cut the threads before chucking it up in the lathe and cutting the final shape?
@builtbybasil85157 жыл бұрын
Andrew (DadofTriplets) yes that would be easier but then I can't give people the choice of any gear knob because there are many different types of threads
@bluechang087 жыл бұрын
fair enough - I didn't realise there were many different thread types for different manufacturers (not a driver so I wouldn't know)

Nice.☺️That clamping jig? Do you have drawing or video of making it?
@builtbybasil85155 жыл бұрын
No video but it is 4 lengths of 16mm box section and 3 pieces of 10x20mm solid. Drill and thread holes through in one of the pieces of solid drill holes in another to keep the end of the threaded bar. The rest of it it weld the lower part together with holes to accept the bolts

Whats that shaping bit you had on the lathe? I've been trying to find those for making spheres.
