It’s great when you come all the way around to the first tooth space and the cutter lines up perfectly. If not, that means you messed up the indexing somewhere in the process. Happened to me once.

Looking good! I was surprised the nylon milled so poorly. I have nylon change gears, including a 47/37 transposing gear and they work great. It is amazing how long it takes to get some things done. Make tools to make tools to make the part. Nice looking Clausing! I have an 8511, best I've been able to figure the mill less head was sold to someone who put on Bridgeport M Heads and no right X axis handle to save money. Jealous you have the original knee handle. Been pretty happy with it.

@@crazynanoman Oh, thanks! You didn't need to do that. It was my fault really. I just thought you might like to add that info to your sales ad so people would know that they aren't the same as the one in the QC box...

Hey there, I have a Clausing 8520 in my basement along with a nice little Southbend 9" lathe. I wasn't looking for this video, but KZbin decided I might be interested (and they were right!). I've been interested in getting into gear cutting, but I could never decide what size tooling I could handle. That's a dividing head, right? It looked like it fit the machine alright. What size is it? What size is the chuck?

The same 6" Rotary table is available from several different retailers. I got mine from Grizzly. The chuck is a 4" Vevor (you can get the table from Vevor also) Hope this helps..
