It's a great little mill. When you do end up getting a bigger one you'll still find it handy for second op stuff

Yea, I don't see myself ever gettin rid of it. And I'm totally new to machining so if I'm honest with myself I don't need a big mill right now. Lol that lathe I drug home is really too much machine for my needs even.

Days before I retired, I sold off my Bridgeport. Too big for what I do in my home shop & taking too much space. I downsized to a Clausing 8530 mill. Love it.

Nice. Gives me more confidence in the investment. It's very likely this'll do everything I ever need to do.

Beautiful machines. I have a Clausing 8530 vertical mill with OEM x axis power feed. I also have a Clausing lathe, 10" by 36" 4911. My mill and lathe were made within one year of each other. I would love to see any upgrades you come up with for your mill(:

I did get the x-axis powerfeeding working on the mill. Been slowly working on the reed-prentice lathe too. I've had a lot going on, currently out of country, but hoping to get more progress posted this summer.

I was def lucky to have just basically stumbled onto it.

How do you like it so far?
@theidiotsapproach7 ай бұрын
It's been capable of everything i've needed it for so far. Got the powerfeed working. Drawbar nut has been a pain because its warn and misshaped but would be an easy fix if I'd take the time.

Do not use the ER college set up, use the 2 MT college and you’ll have a very accurate machine.
