I love the mini fanfiction you concocted for the outfit!!! It's cute and super in character, and angels and demons canonically don't really have a gender, so I don't think he'd mind presenting female when it suited him better.

Definitely! Apparently one of Aziraphales early outfits in that episode is technically a womens style- it's just far earlier than my expertise. And, of course, Crowley as the nanny!

@@NicoleRudolph one of the moments in the biblical style clothes is female attires well for Crowley. And something during Rome. Maybe the hair? I can’t remember. Also, his glasses, and his…. There's literally a sentence in the good omens book that reads "...angels are sexless unless they really want to make an effort"(page 194 in the paperback version)! ^^ so this is spot on:)

Yeah, or a sex which is why the book explicitly points about, that zira gets mistaken for gay but is not making them love each other non explicitly not queer baiting but ace rep. I love the concept for it makes so much sense, what for would an angel need a biological sex?! But people tend to not get it and I am bitter about it.... And that the rings of power deprived us of dwarven lady beards

I would love to see more “Aziraphale and Crowley presenting as female” projects or concepts! Medieval Aziraphale in an embroidered kirtle and an absurdly tall and gauze-covered hennin… Crowley being fab in a heavily-beaded red-and-black silk flapper dress… I love this project so much and I’d love to see more!

Nice ideas, female Crowley is with the switch scene the best change from book to series. I read one FF that worked a lot with that, Crowley making female appearances between the historical examples the show showed and it was simply glorious. You got gender and sexless beings in your work, do something with it! It is such an interesting thing to explore and Crowley is so fabulous

Can I just say I love how they aged Aziraphale's waistcoat! He said it's his favorite and very old, and the designer remembered to actually make it LOOK old, despite Aziraphale's attempts to keep it in top condition :) I love this show, and I'm very excited to see your finished product! Edited to say it was actually the coat that was his favorite, and it seems to be the same coat from the Holy Water scene up to present day. I want to propose a theory though, do we think the waistcoat from 25:33 is also supposed to be the same one as the present day? Just older, faded, and less luxurious than it was in the beginning? Edit #2: I was rewatching, and he DID keep the gold waistcoat, and they aged it similarity the the cream coloured one. You can see it in the scenes where he is playing magician at Warlock’s birthday in episode 1.

Your middle section about your "good/better/best" system speaks to my SOUL. I actually do a con panel called "The Art of Cutting Corners" that is coming very much into play for this occasion, as I bought my ticket last year thinking I would have plenty of time to make a new gown. Then life took a couple of left turns, and now I'm two weeks out and making an evening bodice to go with... the skirt from the "Emergency Walking Suit" I knocked out in a day and a half in the summer of 2021 because I waited too long to try on what I was planning to wear for an event and discover that it was not just snug but unworkable. I've been meaning to do a video about it and the whole "cutting corners" philosophy, and with this new addition it really need to get around to it!

Though in Good Omens the book both Crowley and Aziraphale are presented as male (just as in the show), it is also explicitly stated that angels (and also demons), not being human, do not have a definitive gender. So your little story about Aziraphale dressing as a woman simply for convenience also has the additional layer of Aziraphale not being strictly male or female anyway.

The hat(s) in the plates looks to be either a Homberg, or a "Pork pie" hat. Find either or both of the hat(s) add a feather combination of pheasant, turkey, and peacock eye, bind together with twisted rawhide and copper wire, and attach to the hat with a small broach. As for the band on the hat you've acquired, banding of burnt senna or bronze would offer a bold contrast to the beige. good luck.

Oh my gosh, thank you for sharing The Historical Fabric Store!! I've been working on a passion cosplay project (as in, I don't have any plans to wear it anywhere yet but I wanted to make it just because) and I've had to put a pause on the project because I haven't been able to find a fabric that feels right, and now I have! Thank you so much!!!

Oh this is going to be SO GOOD! You mentioned a fabric store where you get tie material, could you share that source? I collect and make cravats and bowties and finding the perfect fabrics is not the easiest.

Get out of the "messages" part, and click the drop-down menu, which should bring up 'description'. Scroll down. You'll see some hyper-links to some stores. I didn't look to see which ones, there are several. Hope this helps !

Nichole, new subscriber, but have been watching for awhile. Some others may have ID'd the hat style for you. The older style is called an Alpine or Bavarian hat. The more modern version is a Trilby. They aren't quite it, but in some cases are close. Thanks for your series.

Love the book, haven't seen the series but it looks so fun. As does this project. Also love your headcannon on how Aziraphale would just present female. Thanks for going through all the steps of your design, always fun to see how project planning gets organized. -ChevetteGirl

I love this idea, but of course, I was very busy nosy-ing into the background of you studio which is new to me. Very nicely organised and an attractive work place - which is no surprise 😊

Ahhhh I've seen many gender bent fan art and cosplays for Aziraphale and Crowley but I never got it until I watched the series last week. Now it makes much more sense (now that I know they choose their appearances and their bodily forms aren't set in stone). Very cool to see an accurate historical approach to this, looking forward to the finished garments!

Most of my thrifted clothing comes from online sites, so even beyond the pleasure of finding a package at one's door is the excitement of, what will it actually look like. Glad to know I am not the only one that says oh, it did not look like that on my screen. Always fun to watch a Nicole Rudolph head to toe cosplay creation and accessory search. Looking forward to part 2.
