Very cool video, thanks for posting this. Going above and beyond, you are showing very good techniques here, too, which also shows the complexity and skill that goes into your bags.

This is such a helpful video! Three questions: 1) What grit sandpaper do you recommend for the burnishing wheel? 2) What kind of presser foot is that? I mean, like is it a piping foot, a zipper foot, etc. My machine is very similar to the Cobra you have (basically a clone), but I haven't figure out the best foot for this kind of work. 3) I think you mentioned that you use chicago screws instead of rivets to secure the strap tabs to the gusset -- just curious if that is for aesthetic reasons or if there is a practical reason too. Thank you!!!

Glad you found it helpful! I believe it's a zipper foot and the sand paper is 80 grit. It comes in a few different grit options. We just like the Chicago screws, rivets would certainly work.

I love your bags, and this video is great. Any chance you'd offer the Phoebe Crossbody as a PDF?
@hemlockandhyde Жыл бұрын
good question, after the Greta we decided to do patterns of discontinued designs. So not until we no longer offer Phoebe as a made bag.

2 questions for you! :) 1, Is buying a side of leather the most cost effective way to build this bag or would a shoulder or large panels from Buckleguy be best? 2, I’m not sure what color I want to make my bag. What Wickett & Craig bridle color is this that you’re using in the video? And what color is the light colored tan one on your website? Those are the 2 colors I’m deciding between but want to buy the right leather off Buckleguy. Thank you! :)

to be honest I'm not 100% sure about the panels vs a side of leather. We have always ordered it in sides. I would thin it would be least expensive to get a side especially if you are going to use it for other projects. The lightest color on our website we get directly from Wickett and Craig. In the video we use Medium Brown which should be available through Buckleyguy. Hope that helps

So I am new to my class 26 and wondering how you have overcome getting marks on the leather from your foot?
@hemlockandhyde Жыл бұрын
we took some pressure off the tension rob when we first set the machine up and that seemed to do the trick. Other than that make sure you have smooth bottomed presser feet. It leaves a little bit of marks but they can be rubbed out once sewn up. hope that helps
