Yep, not only did they change her character design completely, they also completely changed her character's personality and distinct ethnic background. imo it was a lazy way of providing representation, they should have just made a new latina character as opposed to completely changing a already beloved character with distinguishable characteristics.

Everyone got things changed. That's what happens with reboots. g1 stans are so weird.

@@LM73726none of the characters are new though? They’re rebooted old characters. They do this with many different shows. Mlp for example is known to make the new generations completely different from the previous ones, but still using the same names for the characters. Rainbow Dash in g3 was a fashion pony, and if you know anything about mlp you’d know that’s so far from her personality in g4. They’re not meant to be the same characters, they just have the same show concept.

​@@morphinpink There's no need to put others down for disagreeing with a change to a franchise that means a lot to them. Especially when mattel has been cited saying they changed frankies skin color because "girls don't like green", so the changes aren't always done with actual care for the brand, but for catering to the masses. Something g1 went against for a reason, to embrace who you are fully. I'm happy for people who can enjoy g3, even if I disagree with some changes, and some g3 fans are no better than g1 fans with how they treat others. Let's not spread negativity over something so minor as doll reboots.

That's the thing i don't like when people say, "You only don't like it because of nostalgia." or something like that. Little kids nowadays deserve to get the type of things we got when we ourselves were kids! Just because it's a new generation of kids doesn't mean that kids nowadays shouldn't get the old gothic/punk/alternative Monster high designs that we got when we were younger. Same thing of other franchise reboots. Kids nowadays deserve to get the same charm as older fans got back then.

This is absolutely amazing!! The water effect on her hands and legs blew me away. Love your concept for the stands too. I work with acrylic all the time and this would look killer in a pink shimmer base. Check out Houston Acrylic for some really fun options.

There's actually a thinner and easier way to do nails! I don't make dolls myself, but I love watching doll making vids. A lot of creators use hot glue, especially for longer nails!

Honestly I dont hate the new design, its fine its cool, but I dont understand why they had to change her color from blue to pink, she was my fav in G1 and a small reason of my liking her was bc she was blue and my fav color was blue. I just don't understand why they changed it(the color) like she was so beautiful before, like even her hair, they used to be wavy because when your hair gets wet and then they dry naturally they aren't straight...anyway... If the color was changed to appeal "girls"more with pink then I dont understand at all. Its not that she is ugly, I would love her as her own character but her being the redesign of Lagoona BLUE... Its just not for me but its not a reason to hate on G3! But your redesign is beautiful I absolutely love it!!💖

i think they made her pink to make the main lineup less repetitive, as they had to change frankie to blue for copyright reasons. i personally love both pink and blue lagoona and they’re each beautiful in different ways!

I really hope you are gonna try to do Kuro Gyaru for Venus, with the new gen recoding her to be black coded (I am all for this, like, my autistic ass loved Abby in G1 and when she showed up in G3 and I heard her voice, my heart swelled cuz I knew that was an amazing moment for the Nepali girls of our Fandom. Change in order to show the beauty in everyone when we have lived in a scope of seeing only a very few as beautiful is essential to growing as a society.) and what I have seen with black girls getting into gyaru is they often end up in Kuro Gyaru because growing up, their own culture had similar aspects, but also because the Kuro Gals end up being (at least in 4 cases I have seen through a dozen internet friendships) some really loving and supportive, albeit pitbull like, friends. Like, these little Snooki meets meets Tara Yummy styled girls a friend of mine made friends with while she was visiting Japan fully helped her get styled up, and apparently after learning that Americans do not like being stared at and especially not Black Americans (when you factor in history, fair, it's a respect thing at this point.) they got into a screaming match with a guy who wouldn't stop staring at my friend at the bar, just cuz they knew she was uncomfortable and they knew she was alone in Japan but wanted to dress up with them. Sure, some shade gets thrown between all friends, but Kuro Gyaru Gals are so loyal and strong and protective that it kinda just converts them into the fashion. Like, we still Skype with the three that speak English fluently and occasionally see the others in the background.

I mean, G3 Lagoona isn't bad, but there's too much pink in her design, and I think it fits Draculaura more. If Lagoona was given a different skintone color other than pink, I think pale green/blue, very light pastel turquoise or mint blue/green would've suited her best, because she IS the daughter of the swamp monsters. Also, I REALLY miss her Aussie accent!
