I just found your channel a few days ago and watched your shop build. It was amazing watching you go through your journey of setting up a new shop, congratulations! Now, one thing your shop needs: a small router table for doing those small edge treatments so you don't have to hold your router in one hand and the workpiece in the other. :-)

I really like your channel your projects are always well-thought and designed beforehand, you build really cool stuff and I also love your enthusiasm! I just wanted to give another alternative that you might like, I made a similar pod holder, with the difference that they come off from the bottom and the pods have just a little bit more space so that they move more freely, so when you take one from the bottom all the other slide down and you don't have to drag the last one all the way to the top 😊

This is for sure a looker. Great desgin! But I really wish it could be optimized better for loading and dispensing the pods. It’s quite time consuming to manually load the holder, if there are more than 4 flavours. And dispensing the bottom pods when the inventory is low will take a bit work as well. If this could be bottom-dispensing, that would be better in my opinion. Thank you for sharing the process

Just build out of 3 layers instead of 2. Bottom layer isn't cut. Second layer is cut to fit the lip of the coffee pod and the top layer is the layer that contains the pod (width of pod body not including lip). If you had access to a laser cutter this would be a fun and quick project. Or you could 3D print it I suppose.
@Bill_Hartnett3 жыл бұрын
@@GottaBeAbstract I was thinking the same thing actually. (This is not a criticism, just an observation) There were already 3 slabs there, it's just one wasn't used. If you use it and did a 3 layer build you could do the middle layer like the top, but with both holes big to allow the pods to slide down in. Then you could use the plunge saw to join and save yourself a lot of sawdust and be faster too. Just a thought and it should work for those without routers. I like the design and you could build it with 2 forstner bits and a coping saw if you didn't have much for power equipment. You could even use an auger and a brace if you had to lol.

You could make a slot from the bottom to take the pods...
@edwinghysebrechts93774 жыл бұрын
nikos grigoriadis i tried this myself with a different design, but basically the same concept. I found that it’s really not worth the extra effort: the capsules have to have enough play so they slide down by their own weight, but a little too much play and they fall out of the hole in the bottom. Took me a long time to get it working, had to use parafine oil instead of osmo, seasonal change in humidity doesn’t help also... and in the end its very easy to just slide them up.
@DanteYewToob4 жыл бұрын
@@edwinghysebrechts9377 if you ever try again, maybe add a bit of felt that is cut to taper from the flush wood, to a thickness of felt right near the slot. The felt will be a bit of added resistance and hold the cups in, but will allow you to pull them out. I hope you understand what I mean.. lol I did something very similar once in my shop and ran into the same issues. Basically shimming it with something like felt works the best, it's a bit spongy but not grippy like sponge or foam, it's the most durable for thousands of uses, and it comes in dozens of colors to match a project. I was designing kydex goods and stored my SAKnife shells like this in large stacks to be assembled factory style. I made them in dozens of colors to be made to order with different color combos, attachment and loop/molle backings.. etc. and having the shells above the desk ready to go was the basis of my whole system, and the felt made the whole system work. I hope this helps, because it streamlined my shop. I messed with that stupid thing for days! It was supposed to be a quick 1hr build to make life easy and it made my life hell! Haha my mom actually suggested the felt.

Nespresso made capsules are made of aluminium and they have a recycling programm. The coffee grain is used for fertilizer and the aluminum is of course recyclable as it's a natural elements. Is it perfect? No, recycling still uses energy that can not be from renewable sources, but at least its not plastic
@joseluislopes39564 жыл бұрын
@@Erickthedreamgiver they require more maintenance/cleaning, are WAY more expensive machines, you can't easily swap betwern different kinds of coffe flavours/bean types, have to deal with inserting pre ground for decaf, not ideal in an office environment. Great video and craft, but this is a terrible design. Unless you wait to refill the slots until they are entirely empty, the pods at the bottom of the slots will go unused. Use recycleable plastic shopping bags, turn off your computer when it's not being used to save electricity, instead of using public transport or a car to get somewhere use a bicycle, reduce the amount of water you use by hand washing all of your kitchenware. There are many other ways that YOU Adrian can singlehandedly save the planet from the 6th mass extinction. Actually, on second thought you couldn't, and you won't.
