I used to go to Horween Leather in Chicago, and hand pick out hard rolled horse hide butt strips for making belts. It's a by-product of cutting out the cordovan shells. They make official NFL football leather too. I like how you patterned the Horween logo inside the wallet.

Yes it's a cutting die, I only have that one! Some of the wallets I've been doing have 8 of those pieces in and they need to line up well and be identical so it made sense to get a die made.

That's correct yes this was a one off special one! The cordovan is way too expensive to make complete wallets out of and it's also too thick really and I don't have the means to split it. I do have some simple small card wallets made out of 100% cordovan those are nice, my other normal wallets are mostly buffalo or kangaroo.

It's not very rare where I live, some people like it and some don't but we use coins a lot more than some other countries might do. If people don't keep coins in their wallet here (which is my preference) they generally have a fistful of change in the bottom of their trouser pocket which would annoy me :)

Hey Ian, great work! I've tried reading through comments and finding the answer myself because I know it can be tiring answering the same questions over and over but I haven't quite found the answer to my question. I watched your leather build along #2 and you mentioned that using the technique shown in this video is much more professional looking (I agree) but I was wondering if you were going to post a build-along for this style as well. I realize that in the other video (as well as some responses below) you mention that this is not a beginner's technique. There seems to be a lot of interest in learning this style and I guess I was just wondering if you would ever create a video for it with a "not for beginners" disclaimer.

They do different kinds and the price would be based on the complexity of the die so there aren't any fixed prices I don't think you'd need to get them to quote you.
