Building a wooden round turntable would allow 1 bag to be filled on one side then rotating the turn table to line up another empty bag, full bags are then removed at 180 degrees from the fill position and new empty prepared for it turn into filling position. Kind like you store bags are on a spinning wheel.The goal being less lifting. Really enjoyed the project. Will you shoot it with a rifle so we can see how bullet proof it is.
@ripsagoly5 жыл бұрын
I think I’ll start with a storage room and see how it all works out !! We converted a school too that’s what we live in right now and will be while we build !! We’re probably a bit crazy seeming we are in our mid 60’s but heck !! Creating something is a passion and so at least we’re doing something we are passionate about 😊 I think I’m going to refer to your videos time and time again!! How is this building holding up? I would think that instead of adding dirt to make the surface level before adding earth bags that you dig down to make it level or dig down and lay crushed rock up to desired level before earth bags. The colder the climate and deeper the frost line the deeper you dig down.

Great video. For the love of god though, you have to screen those rocks out of the soil. You lose a good chunk of strength and a ton of insulation value. Clay is a great insulator. Rock is terrible. Great little building.

That is one way for a strong person to build an earth-bag building But filling bags and then transporting them to final install Is to labor intensive.. Fill in place bags is some thing most anyone can do regardless of age or strength.. an excellent example Watch Green Dream Project.. ,,,,,, building their cistern The bag filling device gives constant volume to the bags.. And once filled Folded \Tied and played down is almost no effect compared to carting full bags... The question is Did he complete the build. Yes Are you as strong as he is most people. No
@FieldtoFarm_UK4 жыл бұрын
We filled them within 10ft of the build and I know I'm strong but defo is way more efficient to fill them with shovels and move them rather than using a 1l paint tin to fill everybag In place especially 8ft up in the air!!! I ran a time trial with the first layers. My way is best. And we have a bag filling holder. Try watching all the video rather than just spamming a comment 👍
@jimh41674 жыл бұрын
@@FieldtoFarm_UK You seem to have missed the point... What you did Could your mother or grand mother do... Yes using paint cans would be some what slower But your mother or grand mother could do it.. When viewers Those wishing to do a project like you have... Sees you doing it.. Thinks no way I have that strength. No way I can do that Forget about that dream.... Or If they see an alternative way (Green Dream Project) And see Jessica doing a similar job.. She isn't the biggest. Strongest person.. They may just think.. If she can. Maybe I/We can.. Let's give it a try.. My thoughts are as a UTube Channel and having followers UTube Channels should encourage others to try and follow their dreams. and suggest alternative ways /channels that may work for them... Kind of like Paying it Forward...

We are a working farm, time is costly. Efficiency is the key to getting things done especially a build like this that's long at the best of times. I think most people attempting a build realise it's a hard process even filling them in place, so anyone attempting isn't afraid of hard work. The bags full weight is less than 25kg wet so easily moveable by my mother and grandmother. A wise man once said theres never any problems only new ways to find solutions 👍
@jimh41674 жыл бұрын
@@FieldtoFarm_UK You built your project and you're happy with how it came out.. That's all that matters... But your statement that your way is the best.. Clearly you do not understand physics.. You exerted way to much energy for the job done.. But does it matter to me... No.. First off would I build some thing in that style. No.. I'm a machine person. And have been my whole life.. (Almost 50 years in construction ) Looking at the projects in front of me... Clearly backhoe and other equipment will make the projects easier... So rather than busting my ass for how ever long and at a point in time getting equipment The first thing for me. Will be getting the equipment.. Figuring out where each structure will be and the finished elevation.. Then prepping the area Next will be the Geo-Thermo system And so on.. If earth walls are something I would choose.. Maybe digging large slots 3 or 4 ft wide and then mixing soil/cement and refilling those slots 1 ft lifts at a time with rebar and compaction equipment.. Once the walls are finished I could excavate the earth away from the walls.. that might be one way But again. Most people wouldn't have the equipment or my knowledge.. One thing I've learned over the years. Is most people don't stop and take the long view of their dreams and do site work first... They just start building And make major mistakes Not taking into account how the rain water flowed across the property and their choice on building placement....

@@jimh4167 1 year late but also would like to point out that the green dream project are in the desert where the bags will dry out faster , you do not want the mix in the bag to dry before the pressing down process and is why i think the GDP couple go straight from mix to bag to laying down to pressing down all within minutes or at most half an hr of each other ,, i also think doing it that way makes each bag more solid because you really get a good pressing/flattening/compressing of each bag
